Frames per second seem low for a 7800GT

Hey guys, I have searched the forum for about 30 minutes trying to avoid starting a new thread, but here goes...

I just got my 7800GT a week and a half ago, and since then it BF2 seems to have been getting only about 40-65fps and the very rare 80-90fps. This is with everything maxed at the 1078x*** resolution (or whatever that one is). The strange thing is I get the same frame rate with everything on the lowest settings. Its not really any better than my old 6800GT @ Ultra speeds. Also, I only get between 30-40fps in Special forces. This can't be right, I spend $75+ to get this extra performance that is non-existent.

I did pick up ~2000pts on 3dMark05 57xx-7744 (not that it matters anyways)
I can play fear on the highest settings with decent FPS.
I can play COD2 on highest settings with great FPS, when the 6800GT would do terrible with that game.

I guess what I am trying to figure out:

Is anyone else experiencing lower FPS? What are your 7800GT FPS in different BF2 situations? After a new format/windows install, newest drivers, etc, why would this game have slowed down?

6800 Ultras cost more then eVGA 7800 GT I think though

                  A 7800GT should be outperforming a 6800U by quite a bit...

Check all of your drivers, make sure you're update to date with spyware/anti virus, making sure all un-needed programs are turned off. Heck, any overclocking, bring it down a bit until stablity and framerates are back to where it is...

                    No check this out...

Plus you can get the CO edition of the 7800GT which is 470/1100... which is better then the 6800U

And plus the 7800GT has more pipes..

If it is more expensive my friend bought it because of the speeds...

Thats why im getting the CO version of the 7800GT

                    -Back on TOPIC..

Could you tell us which versions of drivers you have right now and if you have updated them?

Do you turn off all firewalls and unwanted programs when running BF2?

When was the last time you scanned your system for firewalls, trojans, spyware?

I have all firewalls turned off, newest Nforce4 drivers. 81.94 forceware installed. Just cleaned the registry, defraged, TuneXP stuff, etc. What else could it be? I am guessing my Frame rate is really low compared to other 7800GT's?

To make it easier can someone just show me exactly the drivers I need, just in case I missed something along the way?

Re: Frames per second seem low for a 7800GT

I'm running a 7800GT 256mb right now (running dual monitor), without overclocking at all. Got a 3DMarks05 score of over 7000, and with settings all on High, I'm playing BF2 at 90-100fps. I'm using the drivers that came with my gfx card (66. something).

I installed 81.59, my fps dropped to 60's, and my 3DMark05 score dropped to the mid 6000's. For some reason, the new nVidia driver has issues with 3d modeling, for unknown reasons. The one right before it is best, but I'm too lazy to go looking for it.

Also, having sub-par RAM or a sub-par processor could definitely hinder you.

I get about 80 FPS on vanilla BF2 maps and on Iron Gator I get about 50FPS all on max and I have your same card.
