Then how do I play at near max settings at 1280x1024 and still manage 65FPS average (meaning it goes higher) with a 6600GT? If its GPU dependant, I shouldn't be able to play anywhere above med settings 1024x768.

are you using fraps to get this info or just periodically looking up at the in game fps counter? let me look around for a benchmark that showed how bf2 worked with a 3000 all the way up to a fx-55....

and also, your 6600gt is not running @ stock speeds...

What setting do you think I should be on NOW?
And what setting do you think I should be on with the upgraded RAM?

          Thanks.
I'm not really sure on the settings you should be at now. But you can check this out and see if it helps.

But I was just wondering what PSU you purchased. I think you have around the same case as me. I looked around and found that almost all PSU's have power switches. That won't fit in a dell case. Did you mod your case or just find one without a switch? I've seen the ones at pcpower or w/e but I think 150$ for a PSU is a bit high.

How stupid do you have to be to see that the videocard is bottlenecking every processor Sempron 3400+ on up...? I'm getting a bit annoyed at having to deal with noobs.

Now look at what happens when the videocard does not bottleneck.

              I wouldnt touch a sempron...

I run 1280x1024, all medium settings (except shadows off), 2x AA, run 35-65FPS. SF, same frame rates (buggy game though) with dyamatic lighting @ low, still 2x AA. Dunno what you people are talking about 6600GT's arent that capable in BF2.

OK, you see what FPS its bottlenecking at? 200fps. BF2 has a 90fps or so limit. They had to disable that to get the benchmarks. If anything, the game is FPS limited.

if they changed out the gpu and put in a 7800gtx the fps would go up since any fps limit lock was disabled, again leaving the gpu as the limiting factor.

                      Limiting factor at 250fps maybe.

Everyone knows that GPUs bottleneck the processor. It ALWAYS happens. Anyone that says that a FX-57 bottlenecks a 7800GTX-512MB doesn't know what they're talking about.

But in a game where 90FPS is the limit, those with lower FPSes see a huge gain from the processor because BF2 actually demands A LOT from the processor.

i agree with what you are saying and at 90 it seems bf2 itself is the limitng factor now that i have done some messing around and unlocked my game and server to test it out. using fraps i flew around and took a screenshot of it showng 147 fps, but it did hit over 200fps in some areas. weird how they have it locked like that, not that it really matters but just weird imo. this screen shot is 1280x960 resized to 800x600, and you can see the fps in the upper left hand corner....

i am still looking for another bench that did it with it capped at 90....
