People who do not have top of the line specs read this!

I just got my new graphic card (Radeon 9800 Pro 128 mb)

    My specs are:
    Dell Dimension 4550
    250 Watt power supply
    768 mb of ram
    Radeon 9800 Pro 128 mb

I'm running Bf2 on almost all high setts. The only 2 things im not running on high are shadows and dynamic light. I'm running it on 1024x768
60 fps. It runs great and very smooth. I'm so glad i didnt go out and buy the expensive things people were reccomending! Just thought I'd let you guys know!

      What cpu...
you can turn off the dynamic crap and bump your resolution a notch. I have the same setup. Except 3 ghz 1 gig ram 9800 pro

when i was running my 9800pro i used 800x600 w/ 2AA and felt it looked better than 1024x768 with no AA. but to be honest when i got my x800xtpe and pushed it up to 1280x960 and 6AA, there is a noticeable difference, and since i got my x800xtpe for a hell of a price, i couldn't resist (after i sold my 9800pro my x800xtpe was only $100:) )

I have the same puter 2.0GHz. Thing runs like a dream for being 3 maybe 4 yrs old. I have the ATI Radeon 9700 TX 128 and it runs great. It would have been worth it to upgrade even higher. Soon games willl requier 256 gfx cards. I run at 1024x768 75Hz medium/high. AA 2x. I bet I could push it a bit more but it looks good and runs good so...
If you ever feel like OC'ing your card check out ATiTool.

I was reading in the dell forums that the PSU is actually 345 Watts. I never got a clear answer on that for sure though. I'll find out for sure when I get my ATI X800 XL.

                I have a DELL 4600
                2.26 Ghz P4
                512Mb Ram (Upgrading to 2Gb Dual-Channel soon)
                6600GT 128Mb
                480Watts Power Supply.
What setting do you think I should be on NOW?
And what setting do you think I should be on with the upgraded RAM?

                Thanks.

Why wouldn't it be? A fx55 is clocked at 2.6 ghz, so the extra 100mhz on the 3200+ makes up for the fact that it only has half the L2 cache.

does it not have something more to do with architechture and the 128bit memory controller or do all AMD cpu's carry that 128bit controller?

We buy the good specs just so we can say "Ha, my rig owns yours".

Plus, I expect that within 6 months, give or take a few, that computer wont be able to play a lot of new games on high (even F.E.A.R needs a pretty good comp).

It's the same architechture, just less L2. And the L2 will make a difference in games. Still nothing wrong with the cpu at that speed though :P

My 3500 will reach FX-57 speeds, but won't match it in performance.

but this does not make any difference in bf2 since it is very gpu limited....

Exactly. I've tested in 6 different ways, and I even borrowed my friend's FX-55 while he was on vacation. The results were similar, and in some cases the 3200+ was SLIGHTLY better.

Nope, BF2 is NOT GPU limited. At 1280x1024, I got 45FPS average at 2.0GHz, now I get 65FPS average, and thats near max settings. GPU only makes a difference as far as eye candy is concerned.

if gpu only makes a differnece as far as eye candy is concerned, then it would be gpu limited....plus it is also limited with resolution too, again gpu limiting factor
