    Re: Cant handle 8xAA

    As previously stated..

Why the hell do you need 8x AA? With 4x at 1280x1024 it's impossible to notice a jaggie!

some people are really bluffing here, i mean , in other threads "i have ati 9600 256 mb, every thing maxed 16x AA etc. FPS 60 - 80 , so ******** omg

4Xaa should be fine, i mean at that high resolution you already cant see pixels at 2x AA, so you are good to go :P

Was wondering about the AF settings.
Does the AF setting in the nVidia control panel overide the in game setting?

          Re: Cant handle 8xAA

I don't have nVidea so all this sounds a bit odd to me. With ATI they suggest you check "let application decide" for AA and AF, which means you set the AA in the video section. There is no AF exactly (it's basically that slider bar). Is there an option with nVidia to let the application decide? If so, I'd do that because there is no 8xaa in the game. 6 is the highest, so if you're doing 8, you're forcing it (and that may be why you're experiencing problems). Tweakguides.com has nVidia and BF2 optimization guides you might want to check out. Forgive me if I am totally wrong since I've never used nVidia. But the guides should definately help. Good luck!

There is AF, it's called texture filtering under video options in the game.

Texture Filtering: This setting controls how crisp and clear textures look as they fade into the distance. The available options are Low, Medium and High, and the higher the setting the better the image quality in return for a decline in performance. The screenshot comparison below shows the impact of different levels of filtering - note in particular the different levels of the blurring on the dirt road leading off into the distance. The texture filtering settings at Medium and High should correspond with 2x Anisotropic Filtering (AF) and 4xAF respectively, with Low being Trilinear.

So yeah I'm kind of confused as to what to set my vid card settings to.

Wow, the AF in BF2 sux then. I put my AF to 16x at my control panel for ATi. Makes it look much better.

                Re: Cant handle 8xAA

From what I've read and seen first hand ATi usually provides better quality graphics while nVidia provides better performance and not as good quality.

Although ATi as of late seems to be holding their own in both areas.

What do you have the Texture Filtering set at in the game?

Depends on what "graphs" you look at.
I go by what I see on my screen while playing compared to numbers and charts. :)

That being said, everyones eyes and tastes are different.

WTF are you talking about? graphs or charts or whatever nvidia has been making the better cards. That is a fact. I don't know how your look at you screen and can tell how good an other card is going to look.

Simple, I build systems for a living and come accross alot of different configs, but I use the same monitor to set them up.

One of the fun things I like to do is load my favorite game at the time and tweak the settings for BEST graphical quality.

Overall, ATi cards give the best visual quality while the nVidia cards look noticably worse.

that is just not true. till this gen ati cards didn't even support sm 3.0.

I find it funny that you even hvae a nvidia card and still talk like this.

And I got my nVidia card for free as a favor for building my buddie a gaming rig.
