Hm, I've been thinking about changing my AGP aperture size from 64 to 256 but I can't. This pc was originally a HP computer, just heavily upgraded. I haven't touched the motherboard or processor yet, but it looks like I need to. Does anyone know how to change your aperture size if it's locked in bios?

Mate, you've just hit the nail on the head. I would suggest that if your RAM is 333mhz & you have a AGP apperture limit of 64mb your HP motherboard is the problem. If you are going to upgrade your mobo I'd also go for 400mhz ram at least (although on an AGP board you'd probably struggle to get any more).

So they basically contradict themselves from the previous article...looks like I should go re-read some of those articles more deeply.

I'll admit, the writing abilty of the author leaves much to be desired.

So we have lo-res = CPU limitation, hi-res = GPU limitation. It seems the article was written for nothing then...as if they made the same error in judegement I did, and wrote the 2nd article to address this.

Yep, exactly, when the settings are at a level which the gpu doesn't bottleneck the cpu, the CPU is the main factor, when it is at the highest levels, the GPU bogs down the CPU. It's kinda confusing, but that's how it works.

After re-reading it, I have come to the conclusion that the FX-55/57 is a complete waste of money...why would anyone buy one?

My 3200+ Venice comes within an average of 3 whopping fps when the graphics are set to levels we ACTUALLY play with.

Those guys should have saved the additional $800! I think you would agree with this seeing as we have the same CPU, GPU, and ram(tho I have 2048).

So, what the hell is the point of having any FX processor then?
