Agreed, but some things I would change.

1.) I agree with Wreck that the X-Fi XtremeMusic is just as good as the FPS (or atleast not worth the price for the performance).

2.) 74GB Raptors are nice, but he might want more space.

3.) 16ms monitor? You would get better performance from a $200 17" 8ms monitor. 12ms = minor ghosting. 8ms = no (noticeable) ghosting. I say go with a 19" or 21" monitor thats 8ms. Giant monitors are overrated.

Enermax isn't the best, but they're reliable, go with that PSU.

I would recommend making the changes I said. Save a bunch of money, get lots of bubblegum.

And yea, wouldn't recommend more than 2GB memory. For one, I'm pretty sure that windows doesn't support more than 2GB without tweaks (but apparently some people have been popping up claiming otherwise). And for another, the more RAM you have, the larger the decrease in performance is.

Why would you want more than 2GB anyways...a game that needs more than 2GB to max it out won't come out before Windows Vista does, by which time it would be logical to have more RAM.

How fast is the freaking FX-57, since its so expensive....3.0ghz works like what kind of speed...i can ALT-TAB 5 games in a flash of a seconde? lol

Actaully it's not great at multitasking. It runs at 2.8ghz with 1Mb L2cache. I don't see the point in wasting your money on one if you can buy a cheaper CPU and get the same clocks. My opty 170 overclocked is a dual cored FX 57 basically for only $400.

Oh, i totally forgot about optys, i reccomend optys over FX-57, cause if you get a CABYE (extremely rare supposedly) or a CABNE stepping (not as good, but less rare) you can overclock a LOT, even on stock cooling. But stuff like CABGE don't overclock much.

True, I just wish the dual core optys were out when I was building my pc, but to buy a fx-57 now when you could get a 144 or 146 for $900 less, would be stupid.

THat is the same clock frequency as the FX-57, and it should overclock way better, and it's a bit cheaper, now all hardware experts should never buy FX-57s ever again. You got cheap optys that can overclock to FX-57 speed, or you got ones that are cheaper, and at same clock speed stock, and it overclocks way better.

Thats all great, but I'm talking about dual core optys. They have different steppings (CCBWE), and overclock as well as their single core counterparts.

Why would that matter? When I first built 939 system I had an FX53, then FX55, 3000+, 3700+, and now an Opty 170. Sell what you have and buy an opty.

It's amazing how some people in the gaming community buy into the hype that you need all the newest stuff RIGHT NOW. For example, as an huge Nvidia fan, I really want to go out and pick up a 7800 GTX, but the fact is, I don't feel that I need to until a game comes out that recommends this card. BF2 only recommends series 6. It was developed on series 6, and I would LOVE to see a game that's going to ask that I have a series 7. But look what happened. Everyone ran out and got a 256 MB 7800, and Nvidia just released a 512 MB 7800. Now what are you all going to do? Rule of thumb: if you stay one year behind release dates on video cards, you'll be able to run any game that comes out, and you won't pay as much for you hardware as you do on the release date.

I knwo there are better PSU's but that particular model is solid. If I could choose any PSU I'd get a PC Power and Cooling, then again they are like $200 and above.
