Yea, Nvidia made a mistake and learned from it. ATi just keeps making mistakes though.

Yeah, this is what happened since i know (after radeon 8xxx series/ mx 4 series) Radeon 9xxx series>nvidia FX series, Radeon Xxxx series more or less about equal to the Nvidia 6xxx series. Radeon X1xxx < Nvidia 7xxx series. If Ati doesn't learn and improve, they'll be like kicked off of the vid card mrket for the next gen. It must br tough for an all out ATi fan these days to actually comprehend that the GTX 512mb kicks the X1800XT a** (well not by that much, but nvidia still has the superior card ATM).

Oh yeah, and to permanant marker, yeah, the 6600GT was the KING of all value cards. ATi couldn't bring in much money at all until the X800XL came out, but that came out like 6 months later than nvidia's 6800GT. If ATi doesn't have another lifesaver like the X800XL before, it's doomed for this generation of video cards.

Heh, I wouldn't exactly call the X1000s equal to the GeForce 6s. The X1800XT gives the 7800GTX a fine run for its money. I just bash it because it took ATi like 5 months to bring it out, after the G70s (and thats an example of a mistake) and they still take in MUCHO power and run very very hot.

Well, i said the Xxxx (as in X800, not X1000 series) are pretty much equal to the 6 series. THe X1000 series would have been great if they came out like what, 5 months ago LOL. Nvidia probably made more for their whole 7 seriesin those 5 months than ATi will from their X1xxx for the next year LOL.

He was saying the X800 series are equal to the 6800 series.

exactly what i mean. Although you i kinda already added that to tthe last post, it's still fine. So bascially X300series=6200 series, X600/700 series is probably worse than the 6600series (especially because of how good the 6600GT is) and the X800series is about equal to the 6800series.

You know it wasn't too long ago that ATi was completely kicking nvidias ass with 9600,9700,9800s while the whole nvidia FX series wasn't able to keep up. Before that nvidia mx400s were killing ati 9200s and such. It's a cycle, no need to cry about it, just buy whatever is best at the moment.

^^ Nvidia made a single mistake with the FX series and they learned from it. They're been owning ATi ever since.

ATi on the other hand hasn't made anything but mistakes since the Radeon 9s.

First off, if you're going to rant, try and spell things right. Discusted isn't a word, however diguested is.

Secondly yes the X1800XT is getting killed by the 7800GTX 512. But trust me ATI isn't going to just lay there and take it. My guess is we will see another quickly released X1900XT card with more pipelines (the major down fall of the X1800XT).

Secondly Crossfire isn't like SLi where it only requires 1 chipset. It essentially requires 2 in that you MUST have a Crossfire controller board ("Crossfire Edition" video card). And since there is only 1 card from ATI out right now that is a "Crossfire Edition" card, there is no point in making boards for it.

ATI is behind only because they didn't see SLi as a threat because after all who would spend $700 for two video cards when the performance gain isn't that great? Well it turns out a lot of people, so Crossfire was on the back burner for a while, but has been pushed to the front. Now they are getting their asses handed to them in both video cards, and chipsets. The smart thing for ATI to do right now is to allow other chipset makers like VIA to adapt their crossfire technology and make it compatible with the chipset makers current chipsets.

Then they can re-focus on cards, which they have dominated in the past (IE X850XT PE vs 6800 Ultra).

Kaos can you please tell me the release date on the x850xt pe vs the release date on the 6800 ultra? It would same as comparing the 7800 vs the x850.

Well, the 6800ultra came out in i think June or July of 2004, X850series as well as new x800models (like the X800XL) came out in January 2005 i believe. The 7800GTX came out on June 24 2005.

ATI tends to release things later then Nvidia, so keep that in mind.

The X850XT/PE was made to compete with the 6800 Ultra. Prior to the X850XT series it was the 9XXX series, so it wouldn't be logical because everyone knows that the 9XXX series was not meant to compete against the 6XXX series, but rather the 5XXX series from Nvidia.

That being said the X1800XT was released early. I think ATI was looking to really break Nvidia with it, but instead Nvidia fired back with this beast of a card. Which is why I am GUESSING that ATI will fire back with more pipes on its next series of cards, which I will be bold and dub the X19XX series.

you know in the long run the gaming industry is the winner as new cards come out then they can make bigger and badder games and make the tech of your current gaming card obsolete ie bf2 did to a lot of people

just be glad there are at least 2 really good makers out there to compete
so we benefit from better cards and cheaper prices if you're an ati fan no one will change your mind that nvidia is better and vice versa
