The thing im wondering about is.. how would a 1800 XL 256 (i think) match up to a new 7800 GTX 512 if the 1800 has 512 MB RAM and 24 pipes??? Just asking.. would it perform alot better??? And also how do the clock speeds compare between the two?

Yes it would perfom alot better. The question is does ATI have the yields, and I don't think they would release something else so soon after this release. That would just shut down the sales of their other cards, and wouldn't be a wise move.

But they need more sales.. now with this card out by Nvidia, their sales will be even lower, no longer do they have the (arguably) best card on the market or the cheapest prices, they are charging too much and the cards arent good enough.. Nvidia beat them to it, and they have failed to counter attack. They need to release a card, not a new range, just a new version of the 1800 that can best the new 7800, so they have the top in the market again, that will draw more sales to their lower end cards too.

You guys don't realize ATI makes more money on thier onboard video chipset deals, and OEM bundle system deals. Use aftermarket buyers make up a small percentage of their income. I don't know what they are gonna do but they need to do something.

I have a XFX 7800GTX 512MB and upgraded from an "old" BFG 7800GTX 256MB, and I must say the difference in BF2 is amazing! I used to average in 50s-60s, but now im averaging in the high 80s.
And this is with everything at high,16x12,4xTSSAA (transperant/super sampling), 16xAF, drivers at High Quality.

I will say this though, i hardly played BF2 when i had my BFG but now I FIND time to play! It's brought my love back to this game!

Yeah I'm gonna pick up the BFG version in about two weeks. I'm gonna see if the prices drop at all, but if not I guess I'm shelling out $750.
