Re: what online custom pc retailers are reliable?
I would say a good place to start would be pricegrabber.com they compare prices from several companys. Then call, on the phone, the company you like, Newegg, Tigerdirect, who ever, and tell them the parts or system you want and they will usually match the lowest total price on the complete order. I would order everything from same place.
I did this and got an asus case (just a plain case), 460 watt power supply, one gig DDR2 ram, pentium 4 3.2 gig cpu, An Asus PD5G premium mother board, 6600 PCIE video card, and 120 gig SATA hard drive for $939 about 10 months ago. I also looked at a similar computer pre built and it was $1650. So I saved a bunch by building it myself. I have since added a DVD drive and 2 gig of ram. I started using BF2 to tweek the computer and make it run better and got addicted to the game.
Anyway you can usually get the best deal possible over the phone. Just shop the net first so you know what the best deal is. I would order from the company I felt most comfortable with. It seems new egg was most recomended here but I used Tiger Direct. Hope this helps....Red
