7800GT and AMD 3200 giving problems

hello ive been playing BF2 since it came out. i just upgraded my system.

    before i was running

    AMD 2500
    MSI nf2
    MSI 6600GT
    1GB OCZ DDR400
    200GB SEAGATE IDE

BF2 Settings Mixture of medium and low.

    now i am running:

    AMD 3200
    DFI lanparty nf4 ultra
    BF 7800GT
    1 GB OCZ DDR400 2-3-2-6
    250GB SEAGATE SATA

BF2 Settings All high AA / AASF off

the problem is choppiness. its giving me good frames, but there will be jerkiness when going around corners, choppers flying by, etc.

sometimes vehicles will 'warp around' like on an extremely laggy server, but the servers im playing on all have good pings.

this is extremely frustrating because i thought this system would be able to handle bf2 on all HIGH settings.

even on mixture of medium/high it still gives the problem..

    any suggestions??

Did you install/update your chipset drivers? plus you will need 2 gigs to run BF2 on high.

my friend has 6800 and hes getting awesome fps, no skipping and is running at 1024x768@60hz, everything on high but texture and lighting w/ A-A off, view distance 100%.

so why is it that my 7800gt worse than his 6800?

thats interesting. i was running 1x660GT yesterday with good framerates, and i got my 2nd 6600GT today and now im running SLI and its getting choppy everytime theres an explosion. I was still able to score 6200 on 3dmark05 so i dunno what the problem is besides being just being gay.

Unless you have 2 gigs of ram, I believe bf2 will only run smooth with textures on medium (everything else can be high), but I'm not sure.

Re: 7800GT and AMD 3200 giving problems

I have some experience with BF2 and both Nvidia 6800 and ATI X800 cards. With my current rig I have 2 settings on high and the rest on medium. Terrain and texture filtering are on high, view distance 100%. With those settings I sometimes experience drops to 50 FPS. I have tried more settings on high and the result is constant stuttering because of harddrive activity.

It doesn't matter how fast your graphic card is if the game uses the harddrive. It will make it virtually impossible to play. Try clearing the cache folder and use my settings.

Some maps in BF2 has got issues too. Like the center flag on Daquin Oilfields. Even if you have 70 FPS when you look around you can sometimes experience some jerkiness or stuttering.

No you don't, and if Punkbuster is giving you troubles, roll back the IDE and firewall drivers.

1.5 Gig RAM, better CPU, this will give you the best performance, to get top performance out of your 7800, you might need up to a 3800+ and 2 Gig of RAM.
