[Benchmark] Audigy2 vs X-fi Fatal1ty

I have seen a lot of posts wondering about the X-fi sound cards and what their benefit is.

I have searched for benchmarks, but find none exclusively pertaining to this. If you have links please share them!

Otherwise here is the good part.

My X-Fi Fatal1ty should be here at the latest on Monday (Nov. 07, 2005). Right now I am running an Audigy2 ZS. I will pull benchmarks both before installing the X-fi, and also after installing the X-fi. My hope is to provide people a visual difference in FPS (but I will also analyze sound quality as well).

Windows XP Pro SP2
Logitech Z5300 5.1 THX Speakers
XP Pro SP2

Internet Connection: 5 Mbps / 385 kbps (down/up)

Audigy2 ZS Driver Version: 5.12.0001.1162 (English)

X-Fi Fatal1ty Driver Version: 2.07.0003 (English)

why would a sound card make a difference in fps?

According to Creative those who put the top two models into their systems (the Fatal1ty and Platinum Pro series cards) saw a 20% increase in FPS.....that was their claim (maybe not exact in the numbers but close).

I will test it. I work for a computer company so I get it pretty cheap (sorry no deals for anyone, discount = me only).

The American beer tastes like **** water.

German beer is very strong and very bitter, but it grows on you really fast. I didn't like it at first, but I love it now. And every town has its own brewery where I stayed, it was awesome.

Yah plus the way I look at it, this is the first new jump in sound cards in essentially 10 years. So I'm guessing the next best thing is a while off. I'm considering it more to be an investment in the future type of things. I'm pumped to get it. I have been wanting it for a while now, but needed to wait until the next paycheck was closer :p

I doubt you'll see any FPS diference at all.
