Ok, not interested in wasting time with links, so here goes the approximate:
Mobo: Some good mobo from a trusted brand like DFI, Asus, MSI etc. That has SLI
CPU: No intel reccomended, um at least 3200+ A64
Memory: If you have no intent on overclockng cpu, get 2gb of value ram, if you do intend to overclock cpu, get good ram, 2gb of good ram
Sound Card: If you don't care to much about sound, save urself 100 bucks and use integrated, not to bad, if you like good sound quality, get the Audigy 2ZS at least, don't spend more than 150 bucks, it's basically a waste when you only have 1600 bucks to spend
HD: Um, i would reccomend SATA, but it's not needed, i would reccomend at least 120gb total
Vid Card: 7800GT or better
Case: A good, aluminum case from a trusted brand like antec, or thermaltake
PSU: Good PSU with at least 450w from a trusted brand, that means enermax, antec, and OCZ basically, and PC Power and Cooling if you really want a good PSU

I don't think anyone's getting exactly what you want because we don't know what matters to you.

Answer these:

-Primary use (or dual uses)
-How long you want it to remain viable for your primary use.
-If you give a crap about saving a second or two loading a program like BF2 and its worth an extra 100 dollars for a Raptor.
-If you want a fancy case.
-If you plan on upgrading later and want options.

If you're going for multi purpose general computing an X2 would probably let you do more things at once.

Either way you cut it at least 2 Gigs of ram is a must, will help with everything you do on your PC.

If you're not going to overclock then don't get a board primarily supported by people for its overclocking ability, instead get a cheaper board with good performance and use the money elsewhere.

If you want to Run SLI its pretty obvious what boards and power supplies you'll need. I would kinda suggest a 7800GTX and get another one for SLI later when your system starts getting behind the times. By the time you need another GTX they'll be cheaper and your system will get a good boost for a little bit more cash. If you want to run stuff fine now and save some of the 1500 dollars for the next gen GPU then get a 7800GT and sell it for money towards the next set of GPUs.

Anybody that builds computers knows that the PSUs that come in cases are pieces of crap. Any computer master would know that.

They are posted on the side of the PSU. I will get them when I install my X-Fi card, I don't feel like taking my case apart right now.

Ill just say, ffs make sure you get good quality memory and an AMD 64 with 1mb L2 cache (san diego). Fast hard drives in Raid are also a must, you have the cash for a good system, just make sure you choose good quality, dont get value memory, itll hold your system back.

Only once have I ever seen it go below that, down to 11.72. When I started PS CS2 it actually went UP to 11.95!

Dont trust software voltage monitoring software, they are not very accurate.

I subscribe to a mag called "Custom PC" and they did an article about PSUs and they tested them using £25000 worth of testing equiptment. Ill have to dig it out as the findings was quite surprising. What I do remember is they had a decent Antec PSU which blew up towards 85% load. Only a few top PSU's passed the stable voltages.

I used a PSU which came with a £25 case for years and never had any issues. I now use a Antec Truepower now mind.

Any "computer master" will know that NEVER to trust monitoring software. They are always inaccurate. A PSU is something you should leave money aside for, at least £80. Its whats going to power your computer. So it has to be good!!!

420W psu for an SLi dual core cpu system with 2Gb ram.... good luck with that!!!! :laugh: You want at the very least 500W, more would be better. And King of chaos, if you 12v rail is fluctuation underload then thats not a good thing at all. Why anyone would use such a weak power supply is beyond me.
