Does anyone know how much a Intel 64 bit cpu Dual core cost and what is a good Mb with or without sli ?>?

For the love of god go with AMD if you're going Dual Core. They out preform Intel in 95% of all things, including multi-tasking, which Intel was previously king of. AND they use less power, AND they produce less heat, which means you don't have to spend as much on cooling solutions!

Only bother with a dual core if your planning on using it for heavy stuff like video encoding or encoding while gaming.

Waste of money getting a dual core for gaming at the moment, singlecores are miles faster per pound. By the time dual cores really make a difference in games they will be miles faster than todays generation.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with dual core for gaming (AMD). I have a 4400+ which is stock 2.2GHz and I'm running at 2.75GHz completely stable. It's nice not to have to turn off all the non-essential processes to reduce lag. If you want to still say dual core sucks, then why do I have a sub 30second 1MB SuperPi time? Once you go dual core you won't go back. Being able to minimize BF2 and maximize it without worrying about any lockups is nice. You won't be sorry if you went with a dual core AMD. Intel just plain blows.

The thing is that Dual Core sounds nice! But gaming benchmarks even the 64 FX-55 outperformes a dual core! and it is cheaper than the 4400+. I dont know really it is all a matter of opinion.

Well, a dual core processor makes multi-tasking easier and faster, which is probably why you can run other processes, Alt+TAB quickly etc without any stutter/lag.

However, for pure gaming only (as in in-game performance), the FX is proven to be the better choice.

SO the guy was right about the prices between the 2 but the FX is better and that is what the guy wants to know. I messed up whoops on the prices.
