As many know I work for Best Buy, and seeing as we get a nice discount I have went ahead and ordered myself a new Creative Sound Blaster X-fi Fatal1ty board.

My quest.

Compare, contrast, and give you guys a fair honest review of the board, and my feelings on it. I am also ordering new speakers with an optical in for optimal clarity.

I have the xm.

It is awesome imo. Totaly crushes my audigy 2 zs.

With the xfi my z680's finaly sound the way they are supposed to. I could never get them sounding right with my 2zs. The bass management finaly sounds right. I didnt even have to do any tweaking. I just installed xfi, leveled every slider on the z680's and it sounds fantastic right out of the box.

I game with headphones and the 3d positioning is incredible. Sounds above/below/behind you are portrayed convincingly.

I love mine. There are alot of people who will slag xfi at the drop of a hat. I have to admit I was highly critical of creative, but I really am impressed with xfi. I even like the software and gui. Nice.
