As many know I work for Best Buy, and seeing as we get a nice discount I have went ahead and ordered myself a new Creative Sound Blaster X-fi Fatal1ty board.

My quest.

Compare, contrast, and give you guys a fair honest review of the board, and my feelings on it. I am also ordering new speakers with an optical in for optimal clarity.

i went to best buy the other day, $200 for the good one, i wanted to take it home lol, they are hiring, but to far, and the closest one are full of hardware noobs

Nice one mate, I placed my order for this card yesterday! Should have it by Monday, I'll look for your review and post my own results/experiences aswell!

What sound system have you ordered? I personally have the Logitech Z-5500, and can't wait to test it with the X-Fi - hopefully it'll give better results than my old Audigy LS card.

Good..I can't wait to read it.

I've been waiting to see what the prices for it will be like here in Canada..but nobody seems to have it yet (let alone HEARD of it).

It's a shame that they don't release an X-RAM OEM version or something...I don't need a fancy box, driver CD, manual, and drive bay attachment.

Just gimme a sound card and I'll be happy.

I'll probably buy the Xtreme Music (DUMBass name) the first time the price drops. The Fatal1ty sounds nice...but I'd never spend that kinda dough on a sound card until I win the lottery. Video card maybe

You work as geek squad kaos? Let us know how it is before i buy one myself. Like talus said a little bit much for a sound card. Ill wait for the platnium one to go down in price.

The $200 is NOT the one with X-RAM or whatever the hell Creative calls it. The Fatal1ty and the Platinum Pro are the only two models with memory on-board!

I also have the Z5500 ordered. The Klipsch didn't give as much power, or a remote, or optical in. So I went with the Logitechs.

Creative's GigaWorks is just too much to spend, like $500 on speakers.

Of course I will test both standard and optical inputs for comparisions sake.
