what i say is go for ATI then Nvidia will release something better than x1800 its a no win situation, your hardware will always be old no getting around that!

I'm leaning toward buying 7800gtx but getting worried because I don't want my card to be outdated in a year.

What ever card you buy, it will be outdated within a month or so, there ar ealways new and better card coming out, so dont use this as a reason to go for one or the other. The 7800 is a better buy for you buck,. but it look like the 1800 performs slightly better, acording to the benchmarks HERE...

I know that different sites have different benchmarks, but if you ask me, there isnt much dsiff between the fps anyway, so I'd go for the 7800- just because its slightly cheaper.

Sadly enough the 7800GTX is still better for most games. However it is only a matter of time before a better card comes out and all you people with SLI 7800GTX wont feel so cool anymore

I've got a 7800GTX (BFGTech) and it still performing excellently, but I haven't tried anything like Crysis or FFOW or UT3. Runs great on QW at medium settings (I can get it to high on some maps without tons of open terrain).

not really, i was tryn to decide on a medium card myself not long ago, my old one went Plew, and no mone for a good one. I wennt with the niv 7600gt xxx pcie

its medium card but rocks for me, i run everything on high, no lagg.
