Built the one I use now for gaming, haven't had the first problem. But if I do, I'll know how to fix it myself, and not sit on my hands waiting for Tech. support to reply back to me.

If you cant make one yourself - then find a lan center or something of that sort, that builds pcs, and order from them , have em put em together, you save more then a prebuilt, but spend more then making it yourself.

Wow!! This thread made me laugh, I love the steps that alienware made up:
"Troublshoot problems that arise" wow I forgot to do that when everything worked (they used that step twice)

Or the BIOS jumper settings, wtf? are you freaking buying a Windows 95 PC?

Alienware is going to boast their product as better because they want to sell it, duh. I'd much rather spends hours researching and putting it together then pay an extra $1000 for some schlarb in Texas to build it.

I spent about $3000 on my computer and Alienware cannot touch the **** I have for $3000. You don't get nearly as much.

              Alienware can suck it.

I built mine and only had a little BIOS problem fixed that and walla . Anywho AlienWare is trying to get your money! They aren't trying to warn you, they are a business and money is the only thing they care about.

Re: Building a computer yourself = BAD

I've had my system for a while, so mind you this is when it first came out. And I bought everything and didn't swap anything from my other computer. $3000 was a rough estimate, my parts were about $2500 or so, but I've added on since then. So here is my current config:

                    Abit AA8-DuraMAX Motherboard
                    P4 3.4Ghz Prescott w/AC Freezer7 HS/F combo
                    2GB Kingston Hyper-X DDR2-667
                    (2)10k 74GB WD Raptors [RAID-0]
                    SB! Audigy2 ZS
                    Saphire X850XT PE w/AC ATI Silence5 HS/F combo
Aspire X-Navigator Case with 5 case fans and 450watt PSU
                    Lite-On 16x DVD/ 52X-32X-52X CDRW Combo Drive
                    Sony 3.5" Floppy Drive
                    VeiwSonic 19" 16ms Response LCD
                    Logitech Office Internet Pro Keyboard
                    Logitech MX1000 Laser Mouse
Logitech Z5300e 5.1 THX Surround Sound Speakers
                    WinXP Pro

I think thats it, not sure though, like I said, it was quite a bit.

Don't believe anything that hardware giant says.
They've got it all wrong. You see, custom doensn't=bad, Alienware=bad.

Me too. never had a problem at all. Except for a bad stick of memory, but that wasn't anything i did.

Of course you get the usualy crashes and such, but that has to do with the software you install, games etc...

I would never but a prebuilt PC anymore. Unless i had $10,000 and went to the very top builder and ordered a PC that is the best money can buy. But for anything other, build myself.

Building is half the fun, the other half is learning your machine in and out!
