I'd say right now, high end = anything that can play BF2 on highest graphics settings at 50 fps at least, bf2 being the least economical engine for gaming currently... (I could play CS source with my 5600 and 512 ram, 1.8 processor on highest... takes a ****ing 6800GT, amd 3500+ and 2 gigs ram to make BF2 run on highest... and it has crappier shadows...)

7800 = insane, no point unless you really want 100 fps instead of 50.... which the human eye cannot notice....

just to remind u guys...the GHz speed and numbers doesnt mean much...a 2.2GHz AMD 64bit processor outperforms a 3.0GHz P4 for games...

Lol nope. Thats a mid range PC and in a few more months will be lower end. AMD San Diego 3800+, 2-3 gigs of ram, 2 x 6800GT ultra 256mb cards in SLI, 2 x raptor hd's in raid config, water cooling system for stupid overclocking, 5.1 surround system, 21 inch flat panel monitor, and go faster stripes down the side.

THATS a high spec PC and a price tag of about £1500 to £2000 :O

Or Xbox 360. Or just give up and have a Nintendo DS like me

1 gig of ram
3.0 ghz or higher
6600 or higher?

maybe thats just a wwaayy high end pc?

I'd say that's low end.

You don't really need any more than 1gb of ram i think. I have..

P4 3.4 ghz
nvidia geforce 6600 256mb
1gb ram

I upped from 1gig to 1.5 everything maxed out and at 1 gig it ran ok now it runs so smoothly

High end:

AMD Athlon 64 4000+, FX-55, FX-57 (didn't include dual cores cuz i dont know much about them)

2-4 GB of OCZ Platinum Series (2-3-2-5 Timings)

7800 GT (or 2x GT's/GTX/2x GTX's)

My current system is in the sig, but I plan on upgrading to:

AMD Athlon 64 San Diego 4000
2 GB OCZ Platinum Series 2-3-2-5
Already got my GTX

Ya know what I hate...when you buy the best damn (insert whatever here) and it is obsolete...discontinued....no longer supported....in less then 3 months from the time you bought it........

I high end PC today is a low end one tomrrow.....
