A high end PC has at least a 6800nu/x800, 3.00ghz P4/A64 3000+, SB Audigy 2, and 1 gb of PC3200. Hard drive space does not matter, unless you have a lot of porn on your computer.

I would consider my PC fairly high end.

2.2 Ghz 3500+ OC to 2.6 Water Cooling
          ASUS A8N-SLI Premium
          2 gigs OCZ 2-3-2-6 RAM
          36 GB raptor + 120 GB WD
          Audigy 2
          7800 GTX
          22" NEC FE2111 SB

I can play BF2 at 1920X1440 with everything on high, well Ultra high but it really isn't a huge difference even add some AA but it gets a little low on the framerates for me. What sux though is at high res you can't read any names on the players.

You don't really need any more than 1gb of ram i think. I have..

              P4 3.4 ghz
              nvidia geforce 6600 256mb
              1gb ram

I consider mine a 'high end' computer, mainly because of the 2 graphics cards. I am PCU throttle limited though and will be looking to upgrade the CPU next year but everything else I consider to be top notch. (Which is good because i'm still paying for it!)

                  2GB makes a huge diffrence.

Yeah but all the top end games reconmend 512- 1 gb of ram, i never have problems with slowness in ram i used to but now my ram type is pc3200 seems faster, and battlefield 2 runs perfect, im running it on medium settings, it was on low before but then i changed it to medium which is better and still runs smooth, no crashes, lag, jittery gaming, smooth.

Noni man i've looked into it, while I can do the timings for the ram overclocking the 64bit processor blows my mind I just cannot get my head around it!

Got any good links for reading?

My ideal high end PC would be:

DFI Lanparty NF4 SLI DR mainboard
                            2 GB OCZ DDR
AMD X2 4000+ or FX-57 (but I'd rather have dual core)
                            2x7800 GTX in SLI
                            SB X-Fi Fatality Sound Card
                            Klipsch Promedia Ultra 5.1 Speakers
                            Dell 2405 23" LCD

                            My actual setup:
                            Lian Li PC70 Modded Case
                            DFI Lanparty NF4 SLI DR
                            AMD 3000+(winchester)@2.6 GHz (tdx waterblock)
                            2 GB Crucial PC3200
Leadtek 7800 GTX (maze 4 gpu waterblock)
                            Dell 2005 FPW 20" LCD
                            SB Audigy Gamer
                            Logitech 5.1 Speakers
