6600 GT or regular 6800?

Ok this is really stupid, but i really want to get the best deal out of my card. I am looking at two cards, a XFX 6600 GT , and a XFX 6800 . They both have 128mb memory, but the 6800 has a 256 bit interface, and more piplines. The 6600 GT has DDR 3 memory tho, does this make a big enough difference that i should buy it? They are almost exactally the same price. Which one should i get, or should i get a different card (willing to spend up to $175, and only have agp). I know that the 6800 has better scores and all so don't go call me a newb, but i just want to make sure (can't hurt ) Any thoughts are apriciated

The performance is almost the same, but at higher resolutions the 6800 will pull ahead because of the bus width.

Im not using high resolutions. But, what kind of settings do you think i will be able go get with each (see sig for specs)? Which will be better for the long run?

It will be about the same, as he said before. But higher resoultions the 6800 would be better for.

Get an Evga 6800 Unlock the extra pipes, shaders and overclock it. Newegg has it and its under $200.00

Spend some more money on a 6800gt. You will get a much better value and it will prove a lot faster. You will thank me, i did the same thing. It runs extremely smooth AND it has 16 full pipelines, 1ghz memory clock and 256mb of 256 bit GDDR 3 memory.

ya, but a gt is a lot more $$$, i am looking at a $150 6800. plus it seems almost as good

I'd say a 6800, I have a 6800 and with my pipelines unlocked and overclocked... my card kills any 6600gt out there. Now obviously it doesn't mean everyone can unlock their 6800s but at least u have a chance, unlike 6600s.

Get a 6800 and a artic silencer too.

if its AGP unlock the pipes and vertex shaders. Google it there are lots of walkthroughs and its very easy.

ya i know how to do it, (tired a 6800 LE, but it didn't work could only get the vertex). I'm Gonna go with the 6800, proforms a bit better out of the box anyways

Nice choice...I have a vanilla 6800 and it does me wonders compared to my GF4

yeah, i have a 9200SE, not even supposed to play the game, but it acctually does alright, just lookes like shiz. Blackhawk guns look like big black things. What settings can u play on?

I play all high except Lighting and Textures (ram) on medium @ 1680x1050. With decent fps of 40-60.

Just wait and save up $80 for a GT. I have mine OC'ed past an Ultra and it takes on BF2 on Highest settings without really ever dropping below 40fps, even in the heaviest combat. (You also might wanna consider an aftermarket HSF for it if you OC)

i have the 6600 GT and i play with 1024x786 reso.

all medium exept dyn. light and shadows , these things are on low

i have 50-60-70 FPS
