Don't be greedy, they are meant to run at the frequency you bought it at, the fact that some can go higher is a bonus.
2.5GHz for that CPU is pushing the limits as it is.

You can take a look at this sticky at the forum of [H]ardocp.com, it is worth a good read:

            http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=888001

It explanins how to find out max FSB (HTT) the mobo can handle, and then max CPU speed and then RAM. It doesn it in 3 increments so one of the 3 don't interfere with the finding. Then when you have the numbers you are ready to OC and configure all the settings.

Yea, 2.5 out of your cpu is good. That's what I got out of my cpu. Trust me 500mhz oc is a very good oc. Just leave it. Are you sure you doing it right? Did you up the voltages on the cpu? Did you run prime95 for at least an hour? This is needed to ensure a stable oc. But if it is stable than good job on the oc.

                An hour?
Whenever I overclock, if prime95 doesn;t make it through the night it gets reverted.

Be very careful.....I've heard of 64 3000's going really high. Sometimes you get lucky sometimes you don't. OCing is a hobby not a standard. I'd hate to see you fry that chip by raising the voltage too high. I had the same chip on an Asus A8V and A8N, the A8V would go to 2.2-2.3 but the A8N would only do 1980...Stock on the chip was 1800

if i could id try to keep it at higher, but i cant it wont let me, it just crashes, so i just leave it at 2.5, which is the same as my p4, but comparing the amd, its even better

If it's crashing it's definitely no good....Even if it doesn't crash right away I'd do a stress test on it to make sure it's entirely stable. OCing is something you want to do carefully and it can take hours upon hours of testing, changing, testing, and changing to get a nice stable, reliable overclock. What's the 3200's stock clock?

2.0 i think, how can i give it a stress test?

GIMPS has free software available for Windows, Linux, FreeBSD, Mac OSX. Contribute to the effort by using your computer's spare processing power.

Download prime95 and run it when you go to bed, if it is still running the next morning then you have 1 solid overclock. :)
