    There are very few 256Mb 6600GT's and that is because they have to devide the memory controller to operate at 64bit instead of 128bit. That greatly reduces performance in the card, and they are available in PCI-E & AGP versions. Here are some examples.

      Don't get the 9600, try to keep to the current generation cards(ATI X series, nvidia 6 series).

          Yea, I figured that the 9600 isn't really that great. I'll probably get the geforce 6600gt now that I have more money. What would that bring my AA up to?

            I don't really plan on upgrading any more than this, so I can overlook the socket 754 issue. Other than that, I should be able to play with my settings on medium right?

            You'll now be able to run BF2 on Low/Medium settings, and you will probably get some lag, especially after you exit the game.
