I can't say, I've never seen a head to head comparison. I will say if there is it's only going to be 1-3fps between cores, all else being identical.

Looks good. You'll be loving the game on that rig. The only suggestion I have is make sure you have a good Powersupply. Also, although not critical, I'd suggest 2 512x2 kits of memory. A total of 4 512mb sticks will perform better than 2 1Gb sticks, but it's not THAT important. It's also cheaper, in most cases.

The powersupply will be 380/400W. Can you tell how big differences there are between those 512x4 stick and 1gb x 2 combos?

Sorry, I can't tell you how much if any direct impact you'll see in BF2. I just know from different tests that 4 512's outperform 2 1gb sticks in benchmarks. It won't be an fps difference, just loading and unloading, and overall system performance in other applications. Buying 2 (2x512) kits is usually cheaper too, but if it's not in your case than stick with what you have. On the power supply make sure you check the output on the 12v rail. It should be atleast 24A, the wattage is often exaggerated to sell a unit. That'll ensure system stability.

2 sticks run @ 1t while 4 sticks run @ 2t. The only times 4 sticks outperform is because most of the OC ram (PC4000...) doesn't come on 1 sticks. Most of the high performance ram is on 2 512 sticks. But if you're running on stock speeds, PC3200, then 2 sticks is best.

If you're using dual channel then no, keep it equal. Either get 2-1gb sticks or 4-512Mb sticks. I think the 4-512's run better becuase you're reading to 2 sticks and writing to 2 sticks rather than just 1 each, but I'm not genius that's for sure. I wouldn't stress over this part of the decision. Just get whichever is readily available to you.

How does dual channel work? I know I have this on my setup 4x512 mb pc 3200. but don't really know how it works.

It basically doubles the bandwidth. Let's say you have ddr266 single channel having 2.13Gb/sec bandwidth. That same pair of modules in a dual channel setup will have 4.3Gb/sec bandwidth. Faster data transfer.
