Oh yes! What would be a decent OC for a stock 8800 GTS 320MB?

For my CPU, I know the stock cooler should take me to around 3.6, but I'm gonna hold off on the OC until I can afford a better cooler.

Alex would be the one to ask about OC'ing (especially since I've never had a 8800 GTS ).

I would suggest a Tuniq tower for cooling. I have one and its awesome. (and $50, I think.) My CPU is running at 20 C and overclocked from 1.8 to 2.8. :)

My CD2 E8400 made a huge 2,000+ point difference over my Athlon X2 4800. I plan on OC'ing my E8400 eventually. I know the stock cooler should take me to around 3.6, but I'm gonna hold off on the OC until I can afford a better cooler.

You should overclock that GPU a bit, if you haven't already.

All stock just put in a Palit 8800GT 512mb and I got 11577 with 3DMark 06


EDIT: overclocked to 700/1750/999 (core/shader/memory) idle temp 40c and max 54c

ffs the 780 nforcechip doesnt work withtwo 9800gx2 in sli,only the new 790I does
but i raised my score a little with only one hehe



so i allmost cant wait until the new 790I-card is coming YAY :)

Since when did the motherboard choice affect anything?

Poor chipsets can mean stock scores on benchmarking programs are worse.

Put a Core 2 Duo in a £40 motherboard and a £240 motherboard, and i guarantee the latter will score higher in benchmarks.

They talk about it all the time in CustomPC magazine. They say a standard E6750 and 8800gts 320mb should score 1000 points in their benchmarks (which consists of image manipulation, HD playback aand WinRar'ing amongst other things).

Yet, low motherboards frequently score 700-800 as opposed to the 1000 that is expected. Many times a BIOS fix helps, but in low cost boards, it's just the chips the use.

lets put it this way. if your computer was bad enough to get 1 on 3dmark06, then it wouldnt be good enough to run the program/ even have the power to start up
