The Thermalright XP-120 is a bit better than the XP-90.

No it isn't. It's only a little quiter since it has a 12mm fan, performance wise it is no better.

My Newcastle 3500+ is OCed to 2.5 and, using the Thermalright XP-90, it runs cooler and more quiet than the stock speed and HSF did . My board is the ASUS A8V Deluxe Rev. 2.

What's your temp with stock fan and with XP-90?

My 3500+ Venice runs at 42 celsius on idle and 46 when playing. I'm using stock fan. Haven't really tried how high my processor would overclock.

My stock HSF & 3500 Venice runs between 40 - 44 degrees in a hot room which is a very cool and not worth upgrading. Granted, the mobo hardware monitor is not an accurate tool.

A mag called Custom PC here in the UK tested the Gigabyte G-Power cooler Pro on an FX55 Oc'd to 2.8Ghz and was 24degrees cooler than the stock cooler, maybe worth a look.

My 3500+ Venice runs at 42 celsius on idle and 46 when playing. I'm using stock fan. Haven't really tried how high my processor would overclock.

Ambient room temperature is a steady 21*C -

With the stock cooler at stock speeds my idle temp was 42*C and under load - it could get as high as 58*C.

With the XP-90 HS (with a quiet, low RMP fan) at stock speeds my idle would be around 32*C and and under load it would hit a max of 39*C.

With the XP-90 HS (with a quiet, low RMP fan) and the OC set to 2.5Ghz it will idle at 33*C and top out at near 42*C.

I keep the fan on a low speed even during gaming and it makes no difference in temps even if I turn up the fans RPMs with my fan controller. Mind you that I have increased the CPU voltage as well.

in doing 2.4 with my 3200+ venice.. could go higher but i need a better power supply....

my 3200 is oced to 2.5 ghz and its not a venice its a winchester core. i could go for 2.6 but i need better cooling. this thing is wicked fast.
