How far have you overclocked your 3500+?

How far you were able to push your 3500+ Venice? Did you use the stock heat sink or did you need to buy a better one? Thanks!

You'll need to buy a better heatsink. The Thermalright XP-90 is regarded as the best to get.

My Newcastle 3500+ is OCed to 2.5 and, using the Thermalright XP-90, it runs cooler and more quiet than the stock speed and HSF did . My board is the ASUS A8V Deluxe Rev. 2.

If anyone is interested I found this article on overclocking 3500+. They got it to 2.66 GHz with air cooling. Looks like you guys are right recommending the Thermalright X-90. Is the Tornado fan really that loud? Is there a better alternative that is quieter?

Yes, the tornado is extremely loud, I don't recommend it. The vantec stealth is extremely quiet and moves a lot of air if you want to go that route. Many will also recommend a panflo, but I have no personal experience with those.

I roll my 3500 clawhammer at stock speeds...

I did not notice a huge difference in game with an oc'd proc.

Now when I got my 2gigs of XMS corsair, zing!!!

Agreed the Tornado is very loud but it's performance is outstanding. Get yourself a Nexus fan controller or likes off and you will be able to tame this beast of a fan. I've got one as a case fan as well as on my XP90-C.

The Thermalright XP-120 is a bit better than the XP-90.
