A Graphics Card Advantage?

Person A) has an OC'd $450.00 card with a burnin' system
Person B) has an average system with an average card

My question is:

for example, on Songua Stalemate (or any map with a good deal of fog/dust) does person A) have an advantage RE: view distance settings? If person A) can 'crank up' the view distance, then person A) would be able to see person B) when person B) can only see pea soup.

Is that correct?

Welcome to PC gaming since day 1. If you want hardware parity, consoles are the way to go.

Yes...if you have draw distance set to 100% you will see somebody before they see you if their draw distance is lower...in clear maps!! (also setting geometry to high allows you to see objects like tanks at a further distance)

BUT..the pea soup in Songhua Stalemate is set to a fixed distance...nobody can see through that

Welcome to PC gaming since day 1. If you want hardware parity, consoles are the way to go.

Actually the guy runnin lower settings such as Shadows and Dynamic lighting is actually at more of an advantage in some cases because everything is bright and clear and the main details such as YOU show up easier

You're SO right, especially with those stupid controllers. There's nothing like trying to make fine-tuned aiming movements using my thumb (digit designed for gross motor function) and a spring-loaded thumbstick.

Plus, all of the latest console controllers make me feel like I'm milking a cow.

You're SO right, especially with those stupid controllers. There's nothing like trying to make fine-tuned aiming movements using my thumb (digit designed for gross motor function) and a spring-loaded thumbstick.

Plus, all of the latest console controllers make me feel like I'm milking a cow.

That's true, I just picked up the demo for BF:MC for the XBOX and using the controller was like attempting foreplay with Rosie O'Donnell.

Yeah, the only games good for consoles are other games like RPGs and sports games, it's really bad, it's too hard to aim while using a console, and the autoaim makes everything too easy, if someone is hiding in a bush you autoaim there and they are no longer under cover.

This is also true..but I don't believe in doing this. My system can handle all the bells and whistles and by GOLLY I'm gonna turn them ON

I'm not one of those hardcore guys that turns all of the options down to keep the absolute highest FPS and to give him the best competitive edge by seeing the opposing team players more easily against a bright drab textureless backdrop.

No doubt, I just upgraded my card, and although the game looks amazing compared to before, With all settings low or off, nobody can hide in shadows from you.

Different computers don't really have much of an adnvantage on eacother, unless you are running the game on what your video card can't handle.

Say somone is running on low, or there video card runs low very well. Then somone else can play the game medium, very well. But, if one of them is running a bit higher they will get more lag. So, don't put everything up if you can't handle it.

If your system sucks, do what I did: All settings low, but the draw distance is at 100%. I take a hit in my FPS, but its worth it to not be at a 25% disadvantage.
