And BTW, BF2 is Direct 3d, they both run about the same, but on 1280x960 resolution with high and 4xAA, the X800XL beats 6800GT, even two 6600GT's in SLi beat it. Anyways, like i said, shader models don't mean anything for Direct 3D games, anyways, half of the games are Direct 3D and half are Open GL, most probably Direct 3D is never going to stop being the engine of a lot of games.
lolnoob i dont think you know what you are talking about first off i dont know about you but the shadows in bf2 with a 800 look like absolute terd. theres no way you play bf2 on all high with 6xaa and 16xaf with a 800xl with 45fps average 25 to 30 yes. the 6800gt usualy outproforms the 800 and is easily overclocked to a ultra giving it another advantage so stop being a fanboy, by the way im not i used to have a 9800pro RIP

Don't call me a noob unless you wanna start a flame war. And the X800XL beats teh 6800GT at high settings 1280x960 4xaa, so i would research before you start being a pre-emptive flamer dude. And i do play at max settings with 6xAA and 1280x960, so i don't care if you start flaming me saying that i'mlying, cause i'll be playin bf2 on max settings while ya do that:p . Plus, i don't give much for shadows, as long as they're there, it's good enough, other stuff like effects, terrain AA are much more important. take note, i'm not flaming you so don't flame me back, anyways i'm above ultra speeds for core clock and almost there on memory clock speeds. So i don't care if you call me a liar at all.

Look....do a google search and you'll find the X800XL out performs the 6800GT in the higher settings. Which goes to show you it 's the better card for BF2. The 6800 Ultra is better than the X800XL. It's a matter of what manufacturer you want. You won't go wrong with either. I'd suggest Nvidia if you have or will have an SLI board, otherwise ATI's X800XL is a great card. I'm not one to bash, but this kid is getting on my nerves. He's an Nvidia fanboy and always jumps in on the 6800GT. Do some research on the net and you'll see. Compare them at the settings you'll be running and then find which performs better compared to cost difference.

ok lets see some pics... and for you saying your overclocking to ultra i guess you do not know what architecture is. it doesnt mean jack if your clocks are at 480 please sir check the facts a 6800gt running at 400-1100 will take a 800xl and can you run a 800xl in sli...no and dont say theres crossfire becasue there isnt. its not out and wont be for a while. AND DO NOT call me a fanboy i used to have a 9800pro wich ran hl2 amazingly so please dont go there.

I believe you, with my X800 Pro I play at 1024x768, all high settings, 6xaa, and the fps never drops below 40 (most of the time it's between 50 and 60).

Yeah, since i play at higher res, i get lag a lot on 64 player servers. but the way, i play on 32 player servers so i have less lag and stuff like that.

Um, i don't know how to send pics, so if ya tell me i'll do that tommorow maybe. Yes, i can't run in SLi, and i'm never going to run Crossfire, i'm not getting a 200+ mobo with Crossfire when it comes out plus a crossfire edition card, the X800XL costs 1/3 of my whole system costs, i'm not willing to spend more, im just saying, my card at stock speeds will be better than a 6800GT stock when at the settings i play with, which are maxed out at highest res possbile too. Plus nVidia can't run 6xAA unless you do some wierd thing that lets you use some special 8xAA. and BTW, i don't OC for BF2, BF2 isn't overclocking friendly at all, i go to a very small overclock or i go to default.

EDIT: i dunno about that thing about overclocking too, i think that a 440 core clock and a 1080 mem can speak for itself, but i dunno, no benchmarks for overclocked vid cards. And if you don't tell me how to send a screenshot i'll just be playing BF2 on max settings while you start complaining that i can't possibly run BF2 on those settings.

I get the same with the X800XL at 1280X1024, forced, and 4xAA all high. Like I said before, I'm not going to flame. The 6800GT is a fine card and will hold it's own to a point. The X800XL jumps ahead at higher AA and resolutions. You should see what the 6800GT cost compared to the X800XL and what settings you will play at. If the performance difference is negligable and the price difference favors the 6800gt then you're a fool not to buy it.

im not trying ot flame!! jesus. listen bf2 is fine with overclocks obviously because my cpu is oc'ed by 500mhz and my video card now is at 425/1150 and your going ot tell me that you get better proformance with your system? i do agree ati does do AA much better and i dont agree with higher resolutions. i run at 1280x960 becaus its my monitors native res. and the shader model 3.0 gives nvidia better proformance also. i played bf2 on my 9800pro with all high except shadows off and dynamic crap what do you play with all high? everylast option on high? or shadows off and stuff cause tehn if i turned that stuff off id go ahead and do 8xaa and 16xaf but i like shadows.
