I've seen many reviews comparing these two cards but never any that campared the two strictly for Battlefield 2. Is there anyone with experience with both these high end cards and Battlefield 2 who can tell me which card is the victor for this game solely? Or like the reviews claim, are they both good enough that it doesn't even matter?

Re: 6800gtx V.S x800 pro
First off, the equivelent to the 6800 GT is the X800XL from ATi, which is about 250 bucks on newegg.com for PCI-e version. SO based on the X800XL performance first hand, i play on max settings, get 25-65 fps, about 45 fps average, and i use 6xAA and 16xAF (AF is used from using the Catalyst Control Center) and on 1280x960 resolution, the highest on my monitor. So both of them are really good cards, i have heard about 6800GT minoor problems with BF2, but i think it's been fixed, either one is good, the X800XL is cheaper though

Re: 6800gtx V.S x800 pro
A 6800 Gt will come out ahead in all games, but is it really fair to compare the two?
X800 PRO - $199
6800 GT - $299
(Unless u go refurb, then a 6800GT might be nearer $240)Comment

Re: 6800gtx V.S x800 pro
There's also no such thing as a 6800gtx. There's the 6800, 6800GT, and 6800 Ultra. The best of the best right now is the 7800GTX.Comment

Get the 6800GT
I think Nvidia is better due to the newer shader model :)Comment

Re: 6800gtx V.S x800 pro
You guys, seriously, the shader doesn't mean sh*t unless the game engine is Open GL, like Doom 3 or Far Cry. A lot of games out use Direct 3D, which is ATi's domain, theere is like half and half for open gl games and Direct 3D games. And anyways, BF2 is a Direct 3d game even though it's endorsed by nVIdia or something. Anyways, 6800GT is better on medium settings for BF2 on 1280x960 resolution, the X800XL is better with high settings on 1280x960 resolution with 4xAA on, ATi seems to do better on BF2 on higher settings or with AA on. BUt it's all up to you, both run BF2 on high, so it kinda depends on the other games, nVidia absolutely owns ATi on Doom 3 (like 15% difference), so if you play mostly Open GL games, get nVidia, if you play Direct 3d games, get ATi.Comment

Re: 6800gtx V.S x800 pro
6800GT can be EASILY OVERCLOCKED TO AN ULTRA!
ALSO it has SHADER MODEL 3.
For those few extra ££or$$ its worth it.Comment

Re: 6800gtx V.S x800 pro
Yeah, I heard the real advantage for the 6800gt is that it has shader model 3 where as the x800xl doesn't. But this difference will only really matter for later on games right? BF2 doesn't even use SM 3.Comment

Re: 6800gtx V.S x800 pro
Guys, they're both about the same, the X800XL beats nVidia in games like Half-Life 2, which use Dirct 3D engines, nVidia beats ATi on Open GL on games like Doom 3. And BTW, BF2 is Direct 3d, they both run about the same, but on 1280x960 resolution with high and 4xAA, the X800XL beats 6800GT, even two 6600GT's in SLi beat it. Anyways, like i said, shader models don't mean anything for Direct 3D games, anyways, half of the games are Direct 3D and half are Open GL, most probably Direct 3D is never going to stop being the engine of a lot of games.Comment
