    1280x1024 Issue

    Hi Lads,

I know this has been done to death, but I am getting conflicting answers from various sources.

I have been running BF2 for a while on my old 21" CRT with a ATI 9800 pro. I recently bought a new beast of a machine and can't seem to get BF2 to match the native resolution of the monitor.

    Specs
    AMD 64 X2 Dual Core +4800
    2GB DDR2
    ASUS A8N SLI Deluxe
    2 x NVidia 256MB 7800GTX (in SLI Mode)
    19" 8ms ViewSonic TFT @ 1280x1024x60

I can get the game working at 1024x768 everything on "High" with 4xAA, but nothing higher and I certainly don't have 1280x1024@xx as an option in the Video settings.

I have tried just about everything I can thing of:
    • The "+sxz 1280 +sxy 1024" fix in the shortcut command line causes the Battlefield 2 banner to appear and then fails back to the desktop with no messages
    • I tried changing the Video.con file to 1280x1024@60, this causes the game to load to the menu and then fail

EA suggest you get the best gear you can and even when you buy the fastest machine on earth the damn game still won't work properly.

    Any suggestion ?

No PC is ever prefect. Battlefield games are always buggy as **** =P

That thing is wrong. Its supposed to be +szx 1280 +szy 1024. Do the following first however:

Grab nvidia drivers 77.77 first. It did fix some SLI issues and other critical things...

I got mine to work this way: take off the +sxz and +sxy thing first. Then, go into BF2 normally (using the bypass if you got the CTD error becaues of BF2's crappyiness about refreash rates) and set the up your settings then resolution to 1280x960x xx (xx = whatever refreash rate you use). Then quit BF2 (do not go into any servers or start a singleplayer game). Clear the bf2 cache, then apply with trick accordingly and wa la - 1280x1024!!!

Oh, I didn't mess around with my video.con file either =)

Odd, because my BF2 doesn't offer a 1280x960@xx setting in the Video tab.

        The "+sxz 1280 +sxy 1024" fix
        U mean "C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1280 +szy 1024 ?

Works for me, but then I only have integrated video lol

Would you believe I have a space between the "+" and the "szy", it's working now, everything on High with 4XAA and graphics the same res as the monitor.... my GOD what graphics are amazing!
