Memory Voltage

Okay first off, let me put you guys in check.

If you're going for OCz ram you should be getting:

OCZ EL Platinum Revision 2 1GB (2 x 512MB)

Why???



Well first off if you're for sure stuck with that motherboard (which I really can't suggest you buy) that is the best RAM you can get for it.

If you haven't made a purchase yet, or even if you have I'd suggest going with the DFI LANPARTY nF4 SLI-DR ATX AMD Motherboard , it supports higher voltage on memory, up to 3.4v, maybe higher. It's also the best overclocker.

If you go for the DFI mobo, get this RAM:

OCZ 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Unbuffered DDR 500 (PC 4000)

I don't know if you posted it already as I can't find it....
what is your motherboard? Does it really max out at 2.5V?
If so, you are out of luck with ANY ocz memory. Even the 3.3V gold VX they sell really requires 3.4-3.5 V to be stable.
If your board doesn't allow greater than 2.5V, then it's not an enthusiast board and I would stick with cheap medium quality stuff until you can get yourself a new rig.

Check to see if you can find a modified bios for your board... there are a lot of clever people out there who find ways to unlock these things.

Actully it isn't maxed out at 2.5v, I just recently figured out that it says 2.5v to show that the motherboard complies with voltage standards. I have an MSI Neo2-F...

I would still find out what your max voltage is and see if you can find a modded bios.
I would also find out from msi (hopefully their website) what memory has been tested.
Once you find out memory that has worked, you can go to this link, which is a memory database that includes the actual chips on the pcb....

and find out memory with matching chips if you want try an ocz or other manufacturer.

Either way, you really should only use memory that has a default voltage LESS than the max of your board, not equal to or more than the max of your board. You will be looking for trouble otherwise.
