XFX GeForce 6800GT AGP: 256MB GDDR3, DVI, TV-Out

It seems pretty decent for what I need it to run. Any thoughts on this combination of MOBO and vid card guys?

Thats an excellent board, but you're gonna need a pci-e card, cause the k8n doesn't have agp.

Ok, my advice, the DFI UT SLi-DR, that's the best SLi board out right now. IT has better BIOS options, and can overclock better. Plus, all the wires have a uv coating (glow in the dark) and the mobo also has a uv coating. It is kinda expensive at like 167 bucks at newegg.com

Ok, my advice, the DFI UT SLi-DR, that's the best SLi board out right now. IT has better BIOS options, and can overclock better. Plus, all the wires have a uv coating (glow in the dark) and the mobo also has a uv coating. It is kinda expensive at like 167 bucks at newegg.com

Yah I'm still leaning towards the DFI SLi LanParty. But anyone know about that 1?% loss w/ ATi card in a Nforce chipset mobo?

Well, if you're thinking about going with an ATI card then don't waste money on an SLI board. Unless, of course, you plan on going over to Nvidia in the future. ATi doesn't support SLi.

It is a pretty nice board, the lay out is a little cleaner than some others I have used like the ABit AN8 (which hated my ram)

Um, if you get 2xnvidia cards, you put a chip on em, and sli works. It gives good performance at higher resolutions. BUt if you have ATi, it won't work.

SLI is an old 3DFX concept which allows you to run 2 cards together. You need 2 equal cards like 2x6800GT. The claim that you will loose performance with an ATI graphic card over a Nvidia in a Nvidia motherboard is just crap. I have both an ATI X800XT and a BFG 6800 Ultra OC and the ATI card performs better in BF2 on my NVIDIA motherboard!

If you are not planning to overclock then don't waste your money. DFI is good for overclocking but expensive. The Asus AN8 is cheaper but still does the job. I'm quite happy with my current Gigabyte but if I had to recommend something I would say Asus is ok. MSI is on my ****list because I have had 2 boards just die on me and the one I have in my server is also acting up.

I love the board and it issuper stable... Does anyone use EPOX? and ifso, what is your opinion on using it as a gaming rig?

The 2 MSI boards that stopped working for me did so in connection with changing a setting in the BIOS and then it was too much for the memory or FSB. Usually you can then just clear the CMOS via a jumper or a key. But the damn MSI boards never worked again after that. My AMD 64 server board (MSI Neo) gets bluescreens now and then.

You current motherboard will do a decent job in BF2 if you get yourself a good 3D card with 16 pipelines. X800XL, 6800GT, X850XT. Your CPU is a bit weak though because of the 266 FSB. You could try to unlock your CPU and just run it at higher FSB without running it at a higher internal clock speed. I have done it with a 2400 and if you got the right type you have to connect just one L3 or L1 bridge. I used some special conductive paint made for repairing the heat treads in car windows. You can find guides on how to do it on Google.
