Very good information... thank you all for helping out. I'll probably just stick with the X800 XL, because with frame rates as high as this, there's no reason to want anything better.

Sweet
I can't imagine how good the game must look while at those settings and while running smooth as butter.
I can already turn the game up higher to see how good it looks, but the end result is that I get less than 30 FPS most of the time, which is barely playable. :hmm:

Re: ATI Radeon X800 XL <--- For those of you who have one....
WOW! u sound just like me! , about a month and a half ago i decided to give my 9800pro to a friend and pick up an x800xl for bf2. Well with the 9800 pro i couldnt put 100% draw distance with high/med settings.Originally posted by Chubz...what graphical settings do you run BF2 on (Resolution, settings, AA/AF, etc.) and how good does it run?
I'm really thinking about replacing my wimpy 9800 PRO with one so that I can run Battlefield 2 on Medium-to-High details without much slowdown at all.
My rig as of now is:
AMD Athlon 2500+ (oc'd to 2ghz)
1 GB RAM
ATI RADEON 9800 PRO
Also, would a X800 XL be best for the money? (I have a budget of about $350, but I will need to spend money on a PSU as well, so I can't go overboard) Or are there better deals available?
Thanks for any replies , and I apologize if this is in the wrong section! :p
WIth x800xl Now i have 100% draw distance and i was running everything on high but now ive changed it up a bit in the con file. Some of my settings are ULTRA-HIGH:
4=ULTRA-HIGH 3=HIGH 2=MEDIUM
VideoSettings.setTerrainQuality 3
VideoSettings.setGeometryQuality 4
VideoSettings.setLightingQuality 2
VideoSettings.setDynamicLightingQuality 4
VideoSettings.setDynamicShadowsQuality 3
VideoSettings.setEffectsQuality 3
VideoSettings.setTextureQuality 4
VideoSettings.setTextureFilteringQuality 3
VideoSettings.setResolution 1280x720@75Hz
VideoSettings.setAntialiasing 6Samples
VideoSettings.setViewDistanceScale 1
VideoSettings.setVideoOptionScheme 3
Its running smoothly and im getting between high 30 "while lots going on onscreen to high 50/60 fps". using renderer.showfps 1
Im gonna go change these up a bit again and see how much difference it makes

AGP X800 XL P4 3.0GHz @ 3.2Ghz 2 Gb PC3200
1280x960@75Hz AA4x Everything on HIGH 30 - 40 fps 1280x960@75Hz AA6x Everything on HIGH except Dyn. shadow MEDIUM 30 - 50 fps 1280x960@75Hz AA4x Everything on HIGH except Dyn. shadow OFF 45 - 60 fps
I think the performance loss for AA6x is not worth the visual improvement. The only stuttering in online play is because of serverlag. anyway, just some quick numbers for anyone interested. The X800 XL is overclockable and I am trying that now.

You have a good point there , if I werent so allergic to "jaggies" I would turn my aa from 6x down to 4x. Actually earlier today i ordered a 1gig stick of ram so although im gonna have a useless 512 here due to only 2 slots, ill be running 1.5gig ram so ill leave my 6xaa and pump more out of bf2 graphically.Originally posted by MutrinoAGP X800 XL P4 3.0GHz @ 3.2Ghz 2 Gb PC3200
