      50-100? DAMN.

What settings (resolution, etc.) and what are your system specs? (CPU, RAM, and video card).

Ok.... and at the Highest settings (basically), the game is VERY playable for you? And not many slowdowns at all that make it... you know, hard to aim, etc.?

Or is it ALWAYS smooth as butter?

I noticed in one of your previous posts you said during things like artillery strikes it'd dip near 30 FPS, but I was just curious about how bad it looked/ran when it dipped that low?

BTW, thanks for your help everyone.

yea, with my specs i have NEVER been able tell when the game is slowing down. Sometimes when i run fraps, i will average around 50-55 fps, but it says my min fps is like 26-30. But i have NEVER been able to feel the actual slowdown.

like i could turn all my settings on high, have my brother or a friend play, and ask them if they felt any slowdowns.

            they would say no.

              Damn, that's pretty impressive.

I just hope that having only 1 GB of RAM won't hurt me too badly. :hmm:

Hey Supastar (and anyone else with a X800 XL)... could you please do me a favor?

              First turn FRAPS on...

Then please match the following settings:

Now, go to Single Player, the Daqing Oilfields map, and start the game. As soon as you select your kit and spawn, press F11 (or whatever is the benchmarking key), hop in a buggy, and drive from your base all the way into the enemy base. (on Easy, you should be able to make it w/out being killed). As soon as you reach the flag, hit the benchmarking key again, and tell me what your results were.

I ran on these settings and here is what my benchmarking results said:
              Min, 11
              Max, 28
              Avg, 22.3

Not very good... so I'm interested in seeing how your PC handles this. :p

Oh man... that's some crazy stuff....... thank you for doing that, I really appreciate it.

Can you even tell any difference between 51 and 88 FPS? Or does it all seem the same?

Jeez, the more I see the more I want!

nah i couldnt tell the difference

heck when i play on my normal settings i usually get like

                    min:high 20's to low 30's
                    max: 60-70
                    avg: 50-55 fps

but when i just did that test run with the settings you posted, i obviously got much higher fps numbers

but it felt just as smooth

in other words, i couldnt tell the difference between the frames per second numbers

                      That's pretty impressive as well.

Now for one of my few last questions........ how big of a performance difference was it going from higher settings down to the settings I wanted you to try? :|:

That's the point - I want high resolutions with everything INCLUDING shadows turned on, because the dynamic shadows are what really help the game look better.

I've tried playing even with just everything on Medium and my frame rates are quite low, making the game harder to play. That's why I just gave up and set everything on low - it makes it super smooth and much easier to play. That's also why I've been wanting a new video card: I'd like all of the eye candy turned on PLUS those smooth framerates that I get when I put the game on LOW. So Great graphics + Easier playability = New video card.

I hate it when I see a vehicle roll by and there is no shadow or anything cast by it... it really takes away from the realism.

Dude when I play I really don't try and look if there's a shadow under an enemy tank lol. My gameplay looks awesome. and Im happy. Especially on karkand. Shadows = are a joke lol.

yea, i agree. The shadows kinda look crappy. I think i might turn my dynamic lighting back up to high, and turn shadows off completly. I have always played with shadows off up untill this game. BF: Vietnam I played with shadows off.

Maybe ill just keep shadows off untill catalyst 5.8 is released as well as the 1.03 patch. Then i will see how they look

I'm running a 3000+ A64 system with 1GB RAM and X800XL(AGP,stock speeds). Using medium-range settings due to my TFT display which requires me to use 1280x1024 res. Getting around 30-90 FPS, the game still being quite good looking.

i have an x800XL with an intel P4 3.0GHz with 1GB of RAM:

i run the texture details, and texture filter both on HIGH, terrain on LOW and everything else on MEDIUM, with Anti-Aliasing on 4x.

                                and i get a stable 90-120FPS.

                                hope that helps.
