If I was you, even though the 7800 card is quite the monster, it would be best to wait a while until either Ati or Nvidia produce the next line of graphics cards, that will probably blow your mind away.
Tough choise...6800Gt or 7800GTX

the 7800 is as you said it the better card of those two, but the 6800 has a far better price/fps ratio... however, upgrading from a 6600gt to a 6800gt might not be that big of an upgrade... if I were you I'd stick with that 6600gt and wait for 6 months or so and then buy a 7800...Comment

Long story short, I'm gonna have that 7800GTX tomorrow. PNY was my choise, price was right (524 Euros) and I've previously had a few of their cards. One Ti4200 had shotty condensators, send it back to factory because sellers warranty had run out but fortunately card had 3 year warranty from manufacturer. I got a FX5700 in return. Can't wait to get my hands on 7800 :p can't hold my horses and I'm 29 for gods sake

524 EUR = £362 I can tell you that's a very good price. Welcome to the magical mystery land of Europe where we are forced to pay far more for everything than people in America and Asia.Originally posted by HellRåzor524.00 EUR = 635.793 USD
Basically you got ripped off.
You want a good laugh. I pay £4 a gallon for petrol. That's $7 US. I hate the UK. We get everything 2 years after everyone else and are then charged twice as much for it.
Back on topic. If you can afford it quite easily and money isn't really a problem for you then get the 7800GTX. If you have to save and cut things out of your life to buy it don't bother. The improvement over the 6800GT isn't really worth the extra cost if it's going to pain you to buy it.Comment

Not if you live in Finland... actually it's the lowest price I could find.Originally posted by HellRåzor524.00 EUR = 635.793 USD

Well said... Now somebody would say that order the card from USA. Well, it isn't reasonable because of tolls, taxes and shipping fees.Originally posted by ChopperKill524 EUR = £362 I can tell you that's a very good price. I just got the card and used my lunch break to install it. First I tried how BF2 runs with it, of course. I used 1280x960 resolution, 4x aniso and all settings at high. Turned on FPS counter from console... Nearly 100 FPS at almost every time, certainly there are some drops to 80 FPS and some hiccups while map is loading, but wow :p Those hiccups most certainly mean that I just run out of memory. Need to get 1 gig more and need new monitor too... Upgrading, will it never stop?
But overall, I'm a very happy camper now... but broke until pay day
