My CPU's temp when playing BF2 is 60-65c

Have you tried speed fan? It monitors tempatures of your computer and the fan speeds. Really great program to monitor temps and fan speeds. If a temp is too high an alarm will sound letting you know. At the time of posting this my CPU is at 29 degress celcius. I have 4 120 mm fans and 2 80's for intake. The 120's are for intake and exhaust as well.

As far as fans go, I just upgraded my CPU fan adn the game runs 100% better. I have an Athlon 64 3000+ on an Asus K8V-Deluxe MoBo, I had a cheap $10 fan on it, but just switched to this monster. It has lowered my peak CPU temp by 50% on average.

Yeah since the temp hit 95 here today my ac been on all week. And my cpu is under 2 AC vents :)

I would say ignore all these people and listen to the official AMD thermal/temp specs for said processor. I doubt any of them (myself included) are as qualified to tell you what to run it at as an AMD engineer.

Also: If its been working for 2 years, why worry?

Should I be worried or do i need to go out and buy more fans? O yes, I have a AMD 2400XP barton core. I have 3 case fans and a 3rd party CPU fan that is installed correctly. Also when i touch my 9800pro ram it burns me instantly. It has always been like this ever since i got the computer almost 2 years ago.

Buy a Thermaltake XP-90C, Artic Silver 5 and be done with it. I am sure there are other copper based HS out there like the Zelman but this one in particular is more geared for less noise vs cooling approach IMO.
Just make sure you remove any obstructions that would prevent your case fan from inlet of air and exhaust of air from your case. Make sure you use a 2 cans of air and remove all the dust inside. Move around and tape up wires as needed so there is space to breath...inhale cool air from outside the case, exhale hot air from inside the case. I do hope you have 1 intake and 1 exhaust fan.

You may not even need to by a new HS. But I suggest re-apply some TC at least once a year, IMO.

its not that hard to know that a amd runnig at 60c is a little hot and should be brought down, and that one guy said his runs at 70c? well if i wanted that kinda temps i would oc my cpu to 3ghz and blow it up if it was fine 70c is way to hot.

no its not way too hot. It ran at that temperature for almost 3 years with no problems. so it was obviously fine.

How long until you grasp the concept that different cores have different acceptable operating temps?
You have a Winchester core A64, he has a Barton core AXP. They are not the same regardless of the manufacturer. The Winchesters run rather cool and have a lower max operating temp. The Bartons run hotter but can handle more heat before malfunction.
Please learn what you are talking about before suggesting upgrades or arguing with people that know what they are talking about.

However if the OP really wants to cool his cpu down then I would reccomend:

I find it funny that People in California are stating they have a heat wave at 95. Its California. Here in Toronto (where for some reason, some Americans think Canadian live in igloos and have beavers for pets) we have reached temperaturs of 110. And since Farenheit is a crappy measuring system, and all of the imperial system is, I shall say 40+ degress celcius.

None the less, your CPU is fine and you do not need to do anything to it. If AMD say 85 is the max, then 60 is well below. If you are still concerned, or like to have a safety cushion, buy a cpu cooler/heatsink. It doesnt have to be expensive, 20$ maybee and that should do the trick.

and P4 is 50-55 so your temperature is ok

This guy is crazy, your CPU shouldn't run that hot. You are not cooloing it well enough.

My CPU (AMD 64 3000+) runs at 48C under load (BF2) using this monster:

With all of the cooling fins it has over 5000 inches of cooling surface, plus an all cooper core and heat shedding copper pipes. The fan moves 32 CFM (Cubic Feet Per Minute), that is a lot of air-flow, and it is extra quiet, actually quieter than the OEM Athlon Fan, which is wierd.

My PC runs at 70c Idle and during Max Load.
I have NO problems with my PC what so ever.
I have a 2.26Ghz P4 with only the fans that come with the PC (Gfx Card for my 6600GT and the fan with the 500Watts Power Supply).
He doesn't need any extra cooling.

Okay okay okay. Everyone settle down. I had heat issues with my P4, so I did some very indepth research about heat issues with different processors.

While AMD states the highest safe operating temperature is 85*C, a processors should never run that hot. This usually means a one of a few things is happening. Either A)the heatsink/cpu are not properly bound or B)the thermal compound is crapily applied.

My recommendation is this: If you can, start fresh with a new heatsink/fan combo. This seems to be a really good cooloer: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835106037

Get that along with some Artic Silver 5.

And make sure the heatsink/fan is properly seated.

And the guy who said P4s run cooler then AMDs doesn't know wtf he is talking about. Its a very well known fact that AMDs run much cooler then P4s.

An AMD should only reach that at peak load, and even that would be considered hot for an AMD.
