Totals out at £70, only £20 or so more than what I was originally going for and I'm sure the quality will be so much better.

Are you certain that your MB supports DDR2?
Because older "pretty crap" systems often uses DDR.

It doesn't, I can't think of a single s478 mobo that did.

So i'd need a new motherboard as well now? Or can I buy DDR RAM instead and it will be fine?

TheDesert_Fox, on ebay they are the same price but that is because the seller of the GS is asking for like £20 more than I can get it in dabs.

You need ddr memory, and at this point I'd throw the entire pc away and start saving for a brand new one.

I started playing this game with a ATI 9800 Pro AGP and 768 MB.
It can be done, so you could just by another 512 Mb DDR and a cheap GFX card, and then make a complete upgrade later when you feel like.

But since you missed the DDR/DDR2 distinction, I will have to ask about AGP/PCI-Express too?

Yes, I was talking about the Graphics Interface.
Also make sure that you have space for the extra memory. You probably do have a free socket, but better safe than sorry

Everything you buy now will be a write-off when you later upgrade your system, since both DDR and AGP will be useless in a new MB.
So keep that in mind when you decide how much you want to spend on upgrading your current system.
