^^remember speedtest shows your speeds in kiloBITS per decond not kiloBYTES

My ISP says I have 10Mb upload, 756Kb upload... LIES!

They supposedly gave me a free upgrade from 8Mb to 10. They never did. I live 20 miles from Seattle, so it's not distance.

That seems so. But rarely you can get over 8Mb actual speeds over the net from the single source. Either it's a server limited or connection limited.

You should check donwloading from multiple high speed sources simultaneously and adding up the speeds (or check the speeds from firewall).

And besides 10Mb is theoretical ceiling. With over head it's around 9 Mb in real life so in practice you'll never get 10Mb with your 10Mb.

@ looquas, I'll try that multiple source thing, thanks for the advice. I know about not getting the 10 Mb, but only getting 7 seemed a bit of an extreme overhead, lol.

@ sonicpixel, how can you not spend your whole time gaming at work with a connection like that?! *drools*

Actually it's Wave Broadband, I don't trust Comcast.

Wave's just a bit lazy and a good call to customer service every couple months tends to clear things up. I got a free sports package last month after calling about a cable outage, turns out they found I could get it due to some changes in their TV offerings.
