Buying a new LCD monitor

Well things have changed alot since 2 years ago when i was up to date on LCD monitor technology,so i thought id ask for advice here.

Im currently looking at a benQ 24" widescreen

the refresh rate is 2ms so that is great

but the resolution is 1920x1080 a 16:9 i believe

I really wanted to push things to 1920 x 1200 but the 1080s seem more common and cheaper.

I mean a 1080 is still high deff right and will look ok??

Im not used to widescreen tech but now they are dirt cheap here.

Basically im only now worried about resolutions now

one sales guy did mention a 16:10 ratio that i have not ever herd of.

Any input would be greatly appreciated:salute:

16:10 = Regular Resolution Widescreen PC Monitors
16:9 = Regular Resolution for LCD TV Monitors

I recommend going for 16:10 or higher (1920x1200) as it give you more room to work with.

I recently got the Dell S2309W 23" WS monitor (1920x1080) to add as a primary monitor after having a 1280x1024 Samsung SyncMaster for years.

Hell of a monitor and there's really nothing wrong with the 16:9 aspect ratio IMO, especially when you're already at a 1080 HD resolution it's great for both games and movies.

i can get this 24" benQ for $270 AUD ,thats making me want it.

I can remember a few years back when crappy LCDs 19"1280x1080

I have a Dell 24" 1920x1080. I was advised to get a 1920x1200, but couldn't be arsed. This monitor was cheaper and works fine in all games with no black bars. 1080 is becoming industry standard fast as well.

I have two 22" 2ms monitors, one a Samsung and the other an Asus. I purchased the Samsung since whenever I go to the store, they are the best looking there. I must say the Asus is meeting or exceeding the Samsung monitor. Both monitors ran me about $200.
