Is it blocked on the network you're using the netbook on, or on the netbook itself?

We can play CS on LAN on our tablets in school. :awes2

But they monitor the network. (ohno)

What would you guys recommend for installation? Format the hard drive first, then install? Or just install it over Vista?

Full reinstall. I would never advise upgrade.

It works most times, but when it doesn't it's a nightmare.

boot from disc and choose custom install.
eventually it will ask you about partitions, etc. choose advanced or whatever and you can delete your former partition.
you don't even have to make a new partition, just choose to use all available space and install - win7 will create the partition and install.
if your on a notebook, netboot, or oem pc, don't kill the recovery partition if you see one. these are usually about 10gb and allow you to restore the comp back to factory OS.

one last thing - don't put in your win7 cdkey just yet. leave blank and install and then verify everything is running smoothly for a couple weeks. you have a month to register your cdkey. win7 will prompt you to enter it from time to time.

oh and make sure to have any stuff you need on a flash drive before you install:

                chipset, audio, wireless drivers, etc.
                antivirus program installer
                firefox (if used)
                graphics drivers
                pdf reader
                etc.

oh I didn't know that. good tip. But can't I download all the drivers and software fresh after the installation? I've already backed up some files but just things like photos, music, movies, custom configs for games, etc

Internally, just about nothing works, but we can still run stuff as admin if you right click run each time. We managed to get CS2d, CS 1.6, GTA 3 and VC and Half life to work, but we are still cautious because we too can be watched by the actual admins.

Good cover up, Alex! That will fool them.

But seriously, yes, Alex is correct. I'm technically not, but my brother is. And I got it from him. :p

I could undelete it, give you an infraction and then delete it again?

Something gives me the impression that I'm not currying a lot of favor with you, lately.

Is there any option where I get to keep my post? :p
