Alright, just a consideration.

The old ram you had ran at 1.9v stock, while the ram Megawhompertoo linked to (I assume this is what you bought), lists 2.1v-2.2v as it's spec. It's possible that your motherboard is trying to boot with the ram running at 1.9v and if the new ram needs 2.1v or higher, that could be your problem.

Damn damn damn. Now the old won't work either.

The old is 5-5-5-12 and the new is 5-5-5-18. DAMN! I didn't even think to look since they have the same model numbers. Damn Corsair. If my mobo is fried, I am sending them the bill.

Also, the new says it is 1.9 V as well.

maybe try pulling the battery and resetting your cmos.

Tried it. Although, I'm thinking that I might have just fried the RAM, cause I stuck a couple of the sticks in another computer and it didn't work either. I've ordered more RAM and returned the set I just ordered back to Newegg for a refund.

We shall see. (If I have to replace my motherboard, I'm upgrading to i7. Period).

So, I have a 775 Socket motherboard with 2gb of RAM. I know I need more RAM, especially before I upgrade to 7, but the RAM I have now would not be what I would put in an i7 machine and I might want to upgrade soonish, so here is my question:

Should I just get a couple more sticks of RAM and live with my core 2 duo for a good while longer or should I pull the trigger and do new mobo, core i7, and RAM purchase?

I was thinking either http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115202 or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115211 for CPUs, but would it be better to wait until after i5's come out?

Well right now, I would say get more ram and Get a Quad if you want to upgrade.. Core 2 Quads run most games faster then then i7 if not the same.. there really is no reason to go to the i7 if you already have a C2D or C2Q, alot of people dont want to hear this but its true.. my friend upgraded from a Core 2 Quad, and there is no difference in gaming at all.. the i7 is a Core 2 Quad with HT pretty much but to get the best FPS in most games you have to turn off HT in the bios anyway.. I just did a rebuild of the system I have now and I will be getting a Q9550 and OC it to 3.4GHz right now im running a C2D at 3Ghz and everything is good to go.. I would wait for the i9 at least..

I mean if you think about it, so much apps and games do not even use Core 2 Quads to the fullest, they are just starting to now and all the new games will have Multi Core.. So I would say get a Q9550 OC it to 3.4GHz and maby 4Ghz of ram, you will be set.. its all about Video cards right now.. Intel is kinda going to crazy with this whole i3, i5, i7 and i9 thing and the new 6 Core CPU's will be coming out by the time you might really have to upgrade from a Core 2 Quad.. if you look at reviews and benchmarks.. there is no difference at all from C2Q to the i7 and if there is it is very small, to the point you would never notice it unless you do alot of video encoding and time is money.. even then a Nice C2Q will be just fine.. I know alot of people need a big E-Peen, so they must have the newest stuff but for the people that care about game play you will not notice a difference..

Like I said I am running a C2D at 3Ghz (upgrading to a quad) but still my system right now is running everything just fine, and keeps up with my friends i7 at the same clock speed..

best bet right now is a nice C2Q, 4GB of ram and a HD 4850, or higher video card, it will play everything and be one hell of a PC..

Wait for the CPU's that will make a difference.. give it a year or two..

Win7 runs much better then Vista anyway.. Im running Win7 RC right now..
