I wouldn't say downgrading, some pc games aim high, and aim to have the best of the best. I would call it more of a drop to a standard aim.

My 5 year old shark full size tower is timeless,just by a aftermarket 750 watt powersupply(dont let them tell you that you need more).

As far a overclocking and water cooling,i find that stuff is not worth the money:salute:

stick with standard clock speeds just get a good quality one to begin with:thumbsup:you only need 3ghz for most things

Wattage isn't everything. I don't need a 750W lol

Overclocking is free and the difference between a 2.4ghz Q6600 and a 3.7ghz Q6600 is huge, both in Windows and in games.

I had my 6750.2.7 to 3.2ghz and didnt notice anything but heat:p

even my vista rating did not change from 5.6

I heard one place went to 4.2 but 3.7 is still very high,Im guessing that was with watercooling?

what are you doing to notice this differance?loading times?

Well that is not a huge overclock really... that is probably the reason why you noticed nothing. Also, using Vista as a benchmark is just silly...

Q6600's can go to about 4.2ghz, although I don't have the correct VID chip for that. At 3.7ghz I notice a distinct improvement upon opening multiple applications, also FPS in games is higher as at 2.4ghz, the CPU would bottleneck the GPU (IE, not be able to supply enough data at once).

Just out of interest did you upgrade to the 1GB version because of framerate issues on higher resolutions?

i havent had framerate issues (yet) on 1920x1200 with my 512mb version with a small amount of AA/AF but then again i dont usually play the most demanding PC games most of the time

Yes, GRID wouldn't play with 8x AA at 1920x108 :p
