    Extreme downgrading!

I am doing some extreme downgrading to fund a holiday.

I am selling all my watercooling and therefore need an aftermarket CPU cooler, GPU cooler and case. I don't want anything too loud and offensive like the Antec 1200.

I want a reasonable mix of performance and quietness (so no 38mm push pull 3000RPM fans).

    What would you advise?

My Antec 1200 is nearly silent at medium fan speed... cant hear it more than a foot or two away.

I know, but I don't like the design and look of it. I quite wanted the Corsair Obsidian D800, but it's not out yet and will cost a lot!

            TRUE

            GPU cooling
(I have no experiance here but whatever)

            Scythe Musashi
            Thermalright HR-03GT
            Thermalright TRAD

            Cases

            Antec 300
            CM Scout

Are you looking for a great case or a good budget case?

                    1. My experience is that you don't get more money by selling off used parts. You can only decrease loss by selling them, not gain. In order to gain something, you have to get a job and spend nothing. To minimize loss, you'd better keep the case, but selling off pump, blocks and radiators. Use stock HSF for the moment. It's really not that bad running things at stock.

                    2. Antec 300 has a critical drawback that hard drives in the 3 center slots will interfere with full length graphics card. S

I was eyeing up the Corsair Obsidian 800D when it comes out

Lol, no chance i'm running stock. I did it once and the difference in games is huge. The TJ07 only has 2 x 92mm intake fans (the rest are at the bottom for the rad). Therefore, it would be awful for air cooling.

I've always liked the Thermalright Ultra 120 line. great sink, and you can put any 120mm fan on it you like.

Indeed the TRUE is awesome..Especially my black TRUE...

Sucks that they need lapping for their best performance though

The Corsair case looks really nice IMO, although it won't be the cheap end of the market.

I would go for a nice Midi Lian Li, something like the PC-8, small but effective!

As for cooling TRUE are probs the best bet

If you have the stock heatsink from the 4870 still, i would put that back on its not a bad cooling solution

but if you have some money spare definetly go for the thermalright HR-03GT and add a 120mm fan to it
