Ok guys, After iget it made where do i host it and how do i get it to come up if some one is searching for it

I found a site called wix.com.. Any good?

Firstly you'd need webspace which you can either run from your own server (although it won't take a lot of hits well due to network speeds and you'd need a static IP). Other than that, you can rent an instance from an online company.

Secondly, you'd need a domain which can be bought damn cheap (you could run without a domain, but where is the fun in that!). To get it noticed by web crawlers, you need to register it with search engines I believe (but I could be wrong).

There are lots of companies that will sell you hosting...

Wix seems to be a gimmicky pseudo-host that only lets you tinker with their editor. There are probably restrictive caps and marketing ploys as well.

It's best to get a reputable host for a few bucks a month. Though, depending on the agreement between developer and client, it may be the client's responsibility to provide hosting.

Dreamweaver, uninstall it.

Notepad++, Firefox + W3 schools is all you need to learn the whole internet.

Fairly easy to remember address, and you get a lot of space + plenty of bandwidth. They have file type restrictions and stuff like that though, but usually you won't have a problem unless you're trying to do something that is illegal anyway.

You can upgrade to an account that costs a bit but with a real domain etc, except then there are much better hosts.

Right. I'm a bit concerned by the fact that he's getting paid to develop a web page, yet has never done it before.


You should have an adequate knowledge of one of the major SQL languages and either PHP or ASP.NET, along with a working knowledge of javascript and a mastery of CSS and XHTML before embarking a professional website project. To top it off, you need to understand the basic security exploits that may plague a poorly coded website, and how to avoid them, since I don't think your customer will be too happy if their site get's SQL injected and their web site gets turned into a sandbox for some hacker. That's only a concern with complicated sites though, so if you're not doing anything involving databases or server side scripts, you probably won't have to worry about that.


How functional of a web site does the client need, if you plan on making it in Dreamweaver? If all they need is a basic, easy to navigate site with a few different pages, you should be able to pull it off while learning along the way. However, if they want anything beyond that you might be in over your head.

fwiw, NVU portable is a much better alternative to frontpage/dreamweaver type programs. The output code is much cleaner and css style for those that need to use those type of programs.

That's good to hear as I was loosing so much sleep about this I was about to mount the fail plane over to Ireland and personally fetch you cups of coffee all night every night so you could learn to make this website, it's such a relief.

I'll have to tell my boss that I'm not quitting to become a Irish look a like rent boy now though, possibly you could break the news on my behalf master?
