Making a website with dreamweaver

Hey have to make 2 three page websites with dream wearver, I have the programme installed was just wondering are any of you familer with making a site? Or is there any good tutorials that you know of? I am getting payed to make them but have never done it before, any info would be helping ie, hosting and stuff not quite sure of

File> New (insert pictures and all that jazz) save, then create a new html file for each new page...it really is simple once you sit down and try...

Otherwise, dreamweaver is pretty self explanatory. Just drag and drop most of the time. I personally find it much easier to just code and then see how it will look like in dreamweaver itself, both to avoid very sloppy code and because you can sort of unify the entire site much better.

Please do not use Dreamweaver, it bastardises the code so much that it's practically impossible to manually edit once finished.

Just sit down with Notepad or Context and write it yourself, it's so much easier to follow when maintaining :)

+1 on the above, there are plenty of free basic HTML and CSS scripts you can use and manupulate to your own liking.

Just google HTML tutorialsthere is hundreds

agree, Dreamweaver is horrible imo, have never used it to create a webpage

W3 schools is the absolute best site out there for languages. Be sure to run your code through their validator as well before publishing :)

I agree with the majority here, I find it easier to code it in notepad, the only time Ive used dreamweaver was in year 10/11 when we had to use it, if I did all the coding to create a webpage I would of failed the GCSE(****ing schools)

I use Dreamweaver's code view for coding because it highlights things and has f12 preview.

I agree that Dreamweaver is a great program, but you cannot beat the flexibility of notepad...also you dont get all the crap code added in by dreamweaver if your using notepad..but atm, I'm making a site in dreamweaver and I'm enjoying it...

Dreamweaver is good if you're making a website for the first time.. but for anything beyond a few simple pages, it's just going to get very very messy quickly

With Notepad, Notepad++ or whatever you use it's going to stay clean, much easier to just add comments explaining what you have done, and not every page is going to have different code. Easier to maintain and a lot more flexible.

If you know how to use Dreamweaver, it can be really helpful. It was better back before Adobe got ahold of it (I have MX2004, the last Macromedia version), but even the new Studio 9 can still suit even the best developer if he knows what he's doing.

It's kind of like Photoshop. You could use Paint; it has fewer buttons.

Dreamweaver's for HTML/CSS illiterates.

In my web design class, we used textpad which colors the code, but notepad works fine. Just find a free template online or a layout and work off of that to get started. It's much better to work on the code than with things like Dreamweaver.
