Re: UAC, do you use it?
well if you have got 40 years worth of reasons why its so useful why do you need to ask us our thoughts? :p
I havent played with the settings that much but im assuming you can set it to actually ask for a password rather than just offer up a 'are you really sure window?' which would be of benfit to mixed user mixed experienced level PCs as they would have to put the pass in to do something... although cant you do that with multi user PCs anyway right? Same thignas what you say with the server.
I can definately see the advantages your talking about and will definately have a play when 7 comes out see what i think but I had been runnign without virus software for about a year, put it onbefore i reformatted and moved to Vista out of curiosity and i was totally clean same as always. I know i am takin a risk but i dont really download anything im even slightly suspicious of. Maybe if i used my PC for anything critical i would think about it but i do everything totally important on my macbook pro and store it on an encrypted rugged pen drive and anything semi important is copied on all three of my machines so i always have a backup.
Besides which, I use my mac and linux box now more anyway so its not something i deal with regualy.
