I tried it out when i went to scan and i thought it was pretty nice. Whilst it is quite wide the indents/ergonomics make it just as comfy as an MX or G5. Its a little shorter than i would have liked though.

I can see how extra girth would be quite good. It'd keep more of your sticky fingers off the mouse pad, giving your extra glide!

The G9 isn't that big, eventhough it looks huge in the pic it's actually quite small.. I just like its low profile and the way it sits in my hand.. It actually increased my gaming skill, and also comes with two interchangeable grips. One of which (the one i like) is made of a rough texture and is low profile, The other sits a bit higher in your hand and is really smooth.

DPI is just the messurement of Dots Per Inch the mouse can read.. Essentially the higher the DPI the more accurate the mouse. I normaly set my G9 to maximum DPI and then set the in game sensitivity down and it seems to make the mouse really accurate when it comes to small movements (especially in BF2).

Logitech's support is awesomesauce. When I got my first Mx510 back in the day, the left click went out before a week was up. I called them, they asked for my serial number, address, and phone number. They told me to keep the old one and either throw it away if it was totally useless or keep it for a non-gaming computer. I got a new one in the mail Monday afternoon after I called them on Friday night. Since then, I've always bought Logitech mice.
With my luck with electronics, that kind of support is priceless.

G9 is made for either small hands or a claw grip. I've heard that using a claw grip is great for FPS, but can give a fast and nasty hand cramp with too much playing.

Just to add what's stated above, an on-the-fly adjustable DPI is important if you're playing a game where you can switch between various weapons. For example using a sniper rifle, it's better to tone down the DPI (<400) to reduce sway. For fast twitch fighting, use the higher DPI. I believe the G5 max DPI is 2000, for the Lachesis it's 4000.

Out of all the mice i've used so far in my life, i definitely prefered the Lachesis the most, followed by a MX518 which is what i use.

I wasn't impressed by the G9. It's physical size in my hand didn't give me an accurate feel onscreen. Also the mouse wheel could either be too light or too heavy.

O.o I normaly set the DPI to maximum when sniping and tone down the in-game sensitivity settings. That seems to give me the best in scope small movement.

Yea, i have it on really senstitive and when i go to take a shot, i very quickly switch the DPI down to slow movement. Makes me a lot more accurate.

So in BF2 when I'm sniping it seems the the crosshair is on a grid and it can only point to certain certain dots. It's like that on my desktop, too, but the "grid" seems to be a lot smaller on the desktop. My mouse can point to every single pixel on the desktop, but in bf2 it seems to clump it in like 4 pixels.

Would higher DPI change that?
