    [Vr-Zone] DirectX 11 Screenshots

These apparently are DX11 renders using realtime Ray tracing. They have been proven to be renders and not just real pictures. Scary graphics!

iv used ray tracing when 3d modelling glass objects but doing it realtime is just insane!

What exactly does that last image tell us?

TBH, I'd take that with a pinch of salt; look at the Flight Simulator X DX10 screenshot fiasco.

Shouldn't do. The average price of high ends cards has dropped a lot.

The 7950GX2 used to cost a touch over £400. The GTX280 and 4870X2 is nowhere near that!

GTX 280 was going for $600 which is about $200 less than the 7950GX2 if I remember the prices correctly.

It's pretty funny to think about old cards, the prices they used to be, and how weak they are now compared to top of the line. I remember when the 8800GT first came out and seeing it priced under $200 on newegg was considered a good deal lol

Those look real! Only on the last one can you see a slight lack of deatail on the railings.

Is DX11 actually going to require new hardware... i seem to recall reading somewhere it would be a feature that utilized CPU for rendering and would be a software update for modern DX10 cards... i may have been dreaming though.

Come to think of it... how did they do these DX11 realtime renders in the first place? What hardware did they use?

Because DX10 can do DX11, just very, very slowly i imagine.

My computer can render raytraced images just really slowly... at what point does it class as realtime?
I personally would say 'realtime' would be a playable fps.

Yup. I suspect that like DX9 and DX10 cards differ greatly in architecture (dynamic shaders). I reckon the same may be in store in the next year or two.
