Lol its not backwards! i agree about the friggin converting crap tho does my head in.Originally posted by Systemno thanks. I'm not a video editing professional and nor do I care to learn a totally backwards OS and convert songs to itunes. omg, apple is such a horror story to me it is my worse nightmare if I ever have to convert over to it.
Learning apple to me is worse than learning how to drive a motorcycle on the wrong side of the road back down in bermuda (they do it like the english, left hand side..).
ewww apple... eww...
And its not us who drives on the wrong side its everyone else

Might be a good idea however it hink your asking price might be a touch high and it would be a bit unfair/unreasonable to expect that knd of money. I might be wrong i dont know exchange rates all that well.Originally posted by SystemHmmm bak again after this discussion yesterday mornning and I'm think now would be the best time to sell when I can still get like 1200-1500 out of this rig and then sit down for a few months until the i7 comes mainstream and build a pimp rig then?If you have a DVI port on your laptop then you should able to run a DVI-HDMI cable to your TV, if your surround sound gear has pro-logic you should be able to get some kind of surround off it but because i think the signal leading to the amp will be stereo i think it will be processed surroundOriginally posted by SystemIt wouldn't really be too bad cuz I use my laptop more than my desktop mainly because of the freedom I have with it and the fact that it don't eat power like no tomorrow and it also plays bf2/cod4 flawlessly.. The only hinderence I'd have is not being able to use my surround sound and 46" tv I think, or I could try it out but I don't think itll work out too good...
Whilst i would tend to agree with you and owning a mac + a mac myself i can safely say, there isnt a lot you can do on a mac that u cant do on a PC and visa versa. They do seem better for that kind of work i have to agree however im not entirely sure why.Originally posted by HawkersVideo Editting Computer / Software = AppleLeave a comment:

Thoughts?
edit
And I already have oc'd my e6600 death merchant, it hits 3.4 ghz ez since I got it a year agp. I could prolly tweak it up further if I was really nuts about it too and using the zalman 9700 really cuts down the noise but bring the performance up. I actually think I had it @ 3.6ghz a few months after I got it and it ran ok for a while but bf2 use to crash after a duration of time because of it.. I don't even turn my fan speed up at all either - just keep it on low and its cool @ 3.4ghz.Leave a comment:

Re: Considering selling and making new
even then its like 30% improvement, its waste of time upgrading his 8800gtx unless he wants to go to a 4870x2 or something like a gtx260/280 sli
I couldnt justify a cpu upgrade either E6600 overclock usually to about 3.2ghz with no issues if you slap a third party heatsink on them, that would make it nearly on a par with the new 45nm E8xxx chips
Leave it until you can get significant gains I.E 75%-100% framerate increasesLeave a comment:

It would be a decent saving if you had a beast of a card like a GTX280 or a GX2. Doesnt it also shut the fans on your GPU off, quieting the system down a bit?Leave a comment:

Hybrid SLI only applies to the low end of the market.Originally posted by Eagle101What about Hybrid cards from Nvidia, or is that just a gimmick? and the new nm chips from Intel are supposed to be power saving.Leave a comment:

HD video editing will definately benefit from extra cache and also more cores (depending on the edit suite you use). Also if you plan to use Adobe Creative Suite 4 then an Nvidia card might be a better option as they offer enhanced optomizations for rendering and such(i think this is because of CUDA but not entirely sure).Leave a comment:

Re: Considering selling and making new
uuhhhh choices choices...
Q6600 -8mb cache 1066 fsb 65nm 2.4ghz
E8500 -6mb cache 1333 fsb 45nm 3.16ghz
Q9300 -6mb cache 1333 fsb 45nm 2.5ghz
Q9550 -12mb cache 1333 fsb 45nm 2.83ghz
ghz isn't really important to me cuz I'll just over clock that shlt out neways and what it really comes down to is two areas:
Dual core or Quad?
6mb cache vs 12mb?
I'd say go with the 45nm ones myself but is the cache that huge in terms of improvement?
Either way since i7 core is out in like a week, I'll be sitting tight and watching prices drop first - another reason to maybe sell my current rig now lol? I use my laptop more than it neways lol..Leave a comment:
