    well, I've usually gone with in-ear ones. I had a pair of Shure e2c's that had very nice sound, but the wire broke down after my warranty expired. I've had a few other pairs of in-ear ones too including skullcandy and sony, and they all seem to wear down very quickly (6-12 months usually).

    So, I've been looking at some over the ear ones instead, still not sure though.

      Well if you onwed E2Cs then you must know what your taking about anyway :) For cheap portable headphones i usually just buy sennheiser CX300 but in comparison to shures they will sound pretty aweful so unless your just looking for something to get by i would stick to shures, they are thebest noise cancelling headphones as far as i know. Iv heard soem good things about the M-Audio range of these too, maybe worth taking a peek.

      As for over ear headphone, sennheiser and beyerdynamic are my favourites. Especialy the Sen HD280 and the Beyer DT770.
